Selling a saxophone — Brooklynian

Selling a saxophone

I've got this sax in great condition and I'm looking to hawk it. I called a couple places but they all seemed to want to point me to the Sam Ash way the hell down Flatbush, by Floyd Bennett Field.

Are there any places in the neighborhood that buys/ sells instruments? Or does anyone want to buy a saxophone?

  • Mazotti on Third Avenue (and Carroll?) may be able to help you. I think they specialize in guitars but I am almost sure I have seen other instruments there also. Good luck
  • how much is a saxophone?
  • You should really try to sell it privately, through ebay or craigslist. Check on ebay to see what you can get for it.
Music stores will give you half of what they can sell it for. I've had music stores tell me this.
  • i might be interested. what type of sax is it and how much are you asking?
  • agree with superclam. most stores are really gonna take you to town.
particularly since this sounds like a sell not a trade.
craigslist, ebay, harmony central type boards, put up posters at studios or the convervatory, record stores (if you can find one) etc.

interestingly enough, all of the google ads coming up when i read this topic are used instrument related...so maybe try them ;p

It's a King 660 Alto Sax, in like-new condition, with the original hard case, mouthpiece, neck, strap, and cork grease. I'm selling it for $300, which is about half of what I paid for it.
