  • Yeah, I use a non-Apple player myself. I feel like the only person, but having seen the problems people were having with iPods (6 out of 9 people I know had one "die" in the first year of ownership, then you get one back, it's not even yours, gotta restock it etc.), I decided to go a different route - 2 years and all is well. A BIG KNOCK ON WOOD RIGHT HERE.

Also, cue every iPod owner in the world who hasn't had a problem and a few who have to tell me APPLE RULES no matter what. Bring it.

Edit: I know more than 9 people. I should have said "iPod owners I know."
  • i rather go naked than without my creative!! they created the mp3 player!!! most people who dont know anything about tech think apple did!

Apple just perfected it, and made the best interface.

Apple just perfected it, and made the best interface.they had a better interface but now its about par. also creative has good hardware and cost tiny bit less.
  • I have an iPod, I've had a few actually, now I'm down to two. They do break easily, you pretty much need to buy a warrenty which is lame, since they can't seem to promise something will last more than a year, but that's about what every company does these days.

iPod is great cause it's easy to use. But add me to that list of people who's units have broken. I've replaced a few in the 4 years I've had them.
However, I also had a Nike/Philips Mp3 player SEVERAL years back, it lasted about 3 months, and I had a Sony one, also lasted about 3 months. Maybe it's just that they ALL break pretty often, you just hear more about the shitty quality of the iPod cause way more people have them.

you should try a creative player!!!

If I need to get a new one, maybe, but all my music is loaded into iTunes and the thought of moving it all around scares me, even if it is probably pretty easy. Plus, I've gotten used to the interface of the iPod.
  • I still have the original first-generation iPod from when they first came out in 2001. It's a little bigger than the current models and only holds 5GB, and the battery doesn't last quite as long as when I first got it, but the thing still works fine. It actually has a mechanical wheel for the scrolling mechanism, rather than a touchpad "wheel".

    5 years and still going...

How long has your creative player lasted, armchair?

Mine is the one on the right in this picture:

  • my current model i think is 3 year old(20 gig for road trips) and my flash based one is about less than 1 year old(1gig with fm for walking around or exercising).
  • It's funny, in my (non-scientific) survey 2 of the people who had no complaints had early models.
  • i gave away my first gen mp3 play away. never broke though. just old and huge!!!i think i was called the juke box or osmething from creative.
