Jefferson Street off the L train — Brooklynian

Jefferson Street off the L train

I'm moving to Jefferson St. next week about 2 blocks from the L train. I've checked out the neighborhood a couple of times and it seems quiet enough. Any word, good or bad, about the neighborhood right there? Thanks!

  • you seem ok with your choice.

Should we post things to make your BF feel better about your choice?

...or perhaps to make you feel better about your choice of BF?

    our assignment is unclear.
  • Just wanted to see if anyone knew Jefferson Street a bit better than my, "the neighborhood seems quiet enough."
  • I've edited for clarity. Better?
  • Its a good area, afforadable, strong community. As long you've lived in brooklyn before and know the basics of keeping safe. (Getting a car service late at night, don't walk around with IPOD on, don't flash around your expensive phone, purse etc) There are some really great music venues and restaurants. It seems like a new restaurant is always popping up over there. My fave is Tandem, its a great bar with small apps and wonderful drinks. Check out bushwickbk.com they have a lot of articles about that area reviews of the different restaurants, and music venues. Also if you're interested in art opening there are a lot of fun galleries in the neighborhood. Last month we had Bushwick Open Spaces (google it) that featured tons of artists in the neighborhood. Welcome!!
  • Thanks for the info!
  • Just figure with the way the economy is going that ANY neighborhood can turn into a craphole over night.
  • You should be a'ight. That particular stretch is an industrial corridor so it's a bit off putting. Sometimes seems frightfully empty at night. Sometimes seems bustling! Just have your wits about you.

But you are in a good spot, with transport and with NEKingdom and the shops opening 'soon?" nearby. Plus the tasty taco place on star, Los Hermanos.
