To the jerk who viewed my apartment last week... — Brooklynian

To the jerk who viewed my apartment last week...

You came to visit my apartment about a week before I moved out. You looked around, seemed like the price was too high but that you liked the apartment otherwise. I decided to do you a favor by informing you of the drug dealer in the building, the loud neighbors who use the hallway like it's part of their apartment, the ridiculous parties in the backyard every weekend, the roaches, the multiple building code violations, and the general wackness of living in the building. Then, you repay me by going to the landlord and telling them what I said. Now these landlords are harrassing me and giving me a hard time, all because I tried to help you out. Let's see how that affects the return of my security deposit... douche.

  • Wow.
I can't believe that there are people like that living in this world.
I'm sure that you'll be fine with your landlords after a while.
One can only hope that this douche gets his comeuppance from an extended visit by Karma.
  • Kind of off topic, but kinda not.
I dont trust management companies or landlords for crap.

I took pictures of what my apartment looked like when I moved in (before my stuff) and pictures of it AFTER i moved in. (also for insurance reasons)

So if they try to be sneaky, I have pictures for proof.
  • that is a very good suggestion
  • :D You gave me giggles. Is this a Martin building by any chance?
  • Not a Martin building. It's run by some company called Ben Sinia C LLC.
  • I wouldn't let anybody in to view the apt in the first place. If the landlord wants to play games with you...don't let him in. You are not required to allow the landlord access for this sort of thing.

Unless there's a clause in the lease that says otherwise.
  • Definitely take pictures of everything. Asshat (my former landlord who was a major asshole and addict) tried to keep my deposit. I took him to small claims court and as soon as I took out the pictures of my apartment completely clean, I won. I took pics of the closet, the empty fridge, bathroom, all of the rooms, the floors and the walls. I knew he was going to be a dick and I protected myself.

Can't come in right now...I'm in the shower.

Put a cheap deadbolt on the door..."I could swear I gave you the key, Mr. Landlord. I'm so sorry that you had to waste all that time trying to get in."

haha - funny. when i moved out, i went into his office (which had a leaky ceiling at the time so badly that the water on the floor at the front window was ANKLE DEEP) and said "i'm moving out" and pushed my keys under the bullet-proof glass. He said "what was your deposit?". I told him, and he handed me a check for that much on the spot. No looking at the condition of the place or anything.
  • where is martin building so i can stay away
  • i used to live in 793 franklin. but he owns a ton in that area - his office is on franklin near lincoln.
i viewed some DISGUSTING places on st. johns between classon and washington from him too.
