Car Service- Baby Seat

I have never seen a car seat in a any car service car or taxi and there's actually some hole in the laws that kids in taxi's don't have to be in car seats.

We did some digging for out wedding since my brother-in-law has a 2 year old and a 7 month year old. Some car service have car seats but you have to call ahead and reserve.
I think it was either 7th Avenue Car Service or Aracibo that could accommodate. Try calling around to see if any.
I believe you are right, however, that car seats are not required in a cab - but given the way some of them drive...I would go with recommended ;-) -
By law, for some weird reason, you do not have to have a child in a car seat while in a cab or car service.
But, there are car services in Park Slope that will provide a car seat for an extra fee upon request (or, you can just buy your own and pop it into any car service you use) -
You aren't going to need a car seat anyway on the plane? I am not too sure how that works with an 8 month old.

veets:
you can hold a baby on your lap until they are 2 years old, airlines do not require you to buy them their own seat until then. -

Surely you've had to sit net to the person who thought it would be a good idea to not buy a seat for the kid and hold it. If you can't afford the seat, you shouldn't be traveling. And I can't imagine it's fun holding a kid for several hours in a small space. -
Yeah, we traveled to Portland last year with our then 1 year old twins. We paid for the extra seats, and left them in their car seats. Best money ever spent, because they slept most of the time. People who gave us the evil eye when we got on (I can understand) remarked how quiet they were.
But as stated above, you don't legally need a car seat in a cab, and you can hold them on your lap on the plane. I don't necessarily recommend either one. -
I'm pretty sure that Legends has car seats--you'll need to call ahead and specify how old your kid is (so you don't end up with a toddler seat for a baby). Can't vouch for the service, because I've just heard about it from other parents.

Ouch. I do not have much money and when my mom was alive we would travel to Florida to see her. I never bought a seat for my son. I always traveled with someone so between myself and the person I was with, we were fine. The tricks I did learn was to be prepared. Travel during the times my child would usually sleep/nap, keep lots of toys/snacks to keep him occupied.
For the OP maybe you can borrow someones old carseat - I see lots of this on the parent's listservs. -
I guess I've been stuck between two parents passing the kid back and forth too many times. "I booked this aisle seat on purpose and I am not switching to the middle seat so you can both have aisle seats." And of course they don't want to do the other switch (I take the one aisle, they get middle and an aisle). <<much>>

That would piss me the hell off also

Eastern has had children seats when we have requested one. Not sure if they are always available.

Most car services have car seats if you ask. Just call one. Yes its not required by law, but if you are planning ahead, why not ask for one.

I just came back from California.. back it was the red-eye and right behind us there was a screaming 2 year old being passed from mom to dad and crying for hours... pretty bad. Finally she fell asleep and so did everyone else in that seating area.
I asked the question and got the answer.. young children can fly and sit on your lap. Of course a child in a car seat on the plane doesn't mean they won't cry. -
In PS, we've used Legend's and Eastern Car service. Both provide car seats on request.
Don't know if it is the law or not, but we always use a car seat when calling a car service. Most of the time, it is for trips to and from the airport, but a few local trips as well.
It may cost a few extra bucks, but I'd much rather have my child in a car seat than not.
