Ok folks, I need a recommendation

I need a place to go on Friday night to have a beer and a really really hard conversation with someone. It needs to be quiet enough that we aren't shouting and private enough that we can talk comfortably. I dont care if its PH or PS or anywhere else in Brooklyn, but its gotta be an ok place for a tough conversation.

I am at a loss.
Anyone know a good recommendation for me?

    It's not a place. It's a guide to NYC bars/pubs/etc. It's my favorite resource of its type.

    Wow. That's a tough one. Well, since it will be raining all weekend, the spots might be a little less packed, so that's a plus. Maybe Sepia. That's the only place I can think of. Also Stone Home wine bar in Ft. Greene across the street from Moe's.

    the good thing is it will be on the earlier side... like after work. but i havent been to either sepia or stone home before. Sheckys is proving challenging too, since i cant quite figure out how to classify what i am looking for. ugh.

    Well, Sepia is dark, relatively quiet and it doesn't get packed like some of the other places around here, especially in the early evening.

    Yeah. Sepia or, if you don't mind vaguely busted, Mooney's is pretty quiet and there's a dark corner of the bar near the door that wouldn't be awful. everyone minds their own business there, too, well, except for this one asshole, but that was at 2 a.m.

    Sepia is a great place to go and talk, especially right after work. You can sit in the back corner and have more privacy than at the bar. But even sitting at the bar is quiet at that time of the day. Good luck.

    It's good to sit in the back of the place too if you're planning on making someone cry.

    true. then again, there aren't a lot of places I'd really like to cry publically. I mean, yuck. maybe someplace with booths? booth crying isn't so horrible.

    can I suggest you go to someplace you don't want to go again, or can reserve for difficult talks? I hate that Santa Fe Bar and Grill or whatever it's called on Seventh Ave because 1. it's a crappy place 2. I had the finalizing of a breakup there. But it's kinda bustling.

    If you want to get out of PH, The Gate has a back room that's perpetually empty until later. The front room is pretty low key at this time of year since everyone goes on the patio.

    And then there's Prospect Park or the Botanic Gardens.
    It's still light out pretty close to 8pm, so there's always a long walk in the park. Perspective-lending out of doors....somewhat overcast day...who knows...

    Forgot to say that the Park Slope Ale House on sixth ave. has a downstairs lounge that is always empty.

    i am keeping the Gate as my backup, so i agree with you there. its supposed to be raining on friday night tho, so i think the outdoor places are ruled out. and quite honestly, i have gotten used to alot of places already associated with this person, so whats one more to the list. ha. i still go to soda. i dont tend to cling too much to things once they are done. so the association with a place shouldn't be too bad. but thanks. these conversations are just never fun.
