I don't think there's any place here, but I HIGHLY recommend LeRoi in manhattan- its the only piercing place I would ever recommend in the 5 boroughs

Can't any jeweler do that? There is the place on 7th Avenue near 1st Street and the place on 7th Avenue and 8th Street

I dont think most jewelry provide ear piercing. Plus, to be "that guy" (er girl) piercing with guns is dangerous and unsanitary. Taking her to a reputable piercing salon is the way to go

i second leroi. they've done three of my piercings. you do NOT want anyone to use those crappy guns. you want to make sure someone who knows what they're doing does a piercing.

I once pierced somebody's ear on a flight from NY to Madrid with a needle, an ice cube and a lot of alcohol (for both of us). I don't recommend it :-)

I have 3 holes in each ear, all done by guns, never had a problem. What's the big deal about getting your ears pierced by a jeweler with a gun??

She and her Mom went to Treasures on 7th avenue and seems like a good experience so far. Guy was nice, and he emphasized the sanitary aspect of the whole thing...
Will log in with an infection update down the road... -

Generally, piercings done by a gun are made with force and pressure rather than a clear pierce of the skin- those studs that have "sharp" ends are hardly sharp and are forced through the skin rather than clearly cutting through the lobe. Additionally, piercing guns are re-used and not sanitized. Plus the people who use these piercing guns are generally not trained in piercing hygiene and are not trained in piercing placement overall- most "mall" ear piercings are crooked (which can be easily seen if the pierced individual ever chooses to stretch his or her piercings, as was my case. I have double piercings in both ears and stretching in each revealed them to be very crooked.)
