good place for a hair cut, not outrageously priced

I've been in the neighborhood for about two years, but have had friends cut my hair for a long time. I am ready to take the plunge and get a "real" cut, but can't and won't spend a lot of money. Any suggestions? (oh, and I'm a female)

  • Dana at Color&Cut in PS - 7th Ave near Carroll. I think cuts are around $45 - she does an awesome job

The Cutting Den in the Hotel St. George (Henry and Clark Sts.) is a great place for a hair cut for men and women. The prices are reasonable and the extra treat is the stories about past customers. Truman Capote and Norman Mailer are a couple of the people who sat is those same chairs!!!
  • Try Michael's on 7th avenue and 9 st or close to there..he's fantastic and the price is right!

Have been going to Creative Hair and Spa on 5th and 9th in the slope for about a year now. Have had John and Zaida and they both did a great job and the cost is $40.00. Haven't had them but my roommate did highlights and a cut and even that was a reasonable price.

Just got my hair cut there a few weeks ago and loved it! I also had my hair dyed (red I might add) and despite the big change to the color, people have complimented me on the cut more times than not. Usually when I have color done no one seems to notice the cut. Very good and highly recommended. I think a cut is $40 for men and $60 for women. Completely worth it in my book. Here is the info:

** I think they are closed this week for a vacay.**
