Luxury Apartments on Bedford
Has anyone been inside the building that's being converted to luxury condos, on Bedford between St. Johns and Lincoln (I think)? The black banner out front proclaims stainless steel appliances, exposed brick, luxury baths... and the parts I'm jealous of-- the rec room and shared roof deck.
Just wondering what the apartments look like... would be so totally weird to be in a bling apartment just a block from my place.

Here is the website for them, it has some photos and floorplans: http://www.thedevelopersgroup.com/buildings/building.aspx?buildingid=1055&;
This blurb was in the Real Deal this month:
Prospect Heights
1520 Bedford Avenue
Developer Three Properties is converting the four-story brownstone into 11 condominiums. The studio to two-bedroom units range from 400 to 1,065 square feet and start at $185,000. All units released on opening day were sold within hours, according to the Developers Group, exclusive sales and marketing agent for the property. Occupancy is slated for summer 2006. "Prospect Heights" indeed!
That's why I really noticed them, I think-- it's the first luxury renovation I've seen that's really, for sure, no joke, in CH.
Sold within hours, holy cow...
It's coming, people. -

I was at the Open House. It was a good crowd and they are very slick apartments for sure.

However, this is not the first condo project in Crown Heights in recent times.
Corcoran has marketed a new project much farther east, on Albany and Sterling. Also very nice units in a four story walk-up building. Also all sold now, and this was back in January.
Another very nice condo renovation is coming to Dean Street between NY and Brooklyn. It will be only five units, but will have amenities that even the Bedford condos lacked, such as central A/C and private outdoor spaces for most units. No timing available yet, but they will be available soon. -
Yeah, Curbed had a post last November about new development in Prospect Heights, naturally 10 of the 21 projects were actually in the 11216 (CH baby!)
Check it out.

This morning I passed a building on the south side of Eastern Parkway, between Franklin and Bedford. It looks like renovation has barely begun, if at all, but there was a sign hanging from the fire escape advertising condos from Corcoran.
That block is interesting. There are some beautiful buildings near the gas station on Bedford, while others closer to Franklin look like they're fallling apart. -

Check out the copy in this ad from the developer's group on craigslist :

$465000 - *PROSPECT HGTS 2BR GEM*
[...]
Neighborhood: Prospect Heights, located near Crown Heights, [...] The neighborhood runs from Eastern Parkway to Atlantic Avenue, and from Flatbush Avenue to Washington Avenue, ...
[...]
Loc: Bedford Ave. at Eastern Prky
So they advertise it as in Prospect Heights, define the borders of Prospect Heights, and then state that it is in a location outside of those borders.

I was actually looking at it just the other day and I noticed that it was changed to Bedford, now it's back to Washington. I bet the realtors will keep going back and trying to push it out further.
