LAST SUPPER IN PARK SLOPE

Thanks for your agreement with me Brooke Lynn.
Hey if what I described does not bother someone then the restaurant could easily be the top of their list.
It is just not the top of mine. -

Jake's is not officially in Red Hook. I believe "they" call Columbia Street the "Columbia Street Waterfront District". ;-) And, by the way, in 12 years I've never had Jake's ribs (can no longer eat spicy food) but I have played Boggle with him at B61 next door. He's a super-friendly, nice guy for whatever that's worth. -

Yeah, that's the thing -- I'm a pretty good cook myself, so I can get excellent food at home when I put in the time. Atmosphere and experience is what I'm really paying for when I go out. That's why I also agree with you on Osteria Convivium. Don't know why it seems to be often overlooked on these lists of favorite Slope places... it doesn't really call attention to itself, but it probably has a loyal cadre of regulars and doesn't need to.

Slightly outside PS, but I recently had an excellent meal at Watty & Meg's, the joint that replaced Cafe Carciufo on Court St in Cobble Hill. Plus, the outdoor seating is wonderful on a balmy evening. -
Brooke Lynn Knight, Al Di La's wine bar section has more private seating.
-
I had my last meal at Bogota.
-
We recently went to Brooklyn Fish Camp and loved the fresh grilled red snapper.

Gesus Christ... over 1100 view of a thread which is little more than Park Slope residents naming restaurants in the hood.... people just saying "Blue Ribbon" and "al di la" over and over again...
What a waste of internet. -
Wait.. did anyone mention stone park?
I heard its REAL good. Oh, applewood... I heard they serve food there also.
I wish they would open a Sushi restaurant in Park Slope... That would be nice. -

I know this doesn't answer the "Last Supper" question, but I like going to Olive Vine on 7th ave between Lincoln and St. Johns. They make their own very good pita bread, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced.
I thought Blue Ribbon's sushi was pretty good, but overpriced for what it is.
For pizza, I kinda like Tomato and Basil.
I cook most nights, so still have a lot of places left to try. Someone compared Applewood to Blue Hill. If it's anything like the original Blue Hill (at Stone Barns) in Tarrytown, I definitely have to try it out. -
Most of the restaurants are good and it's just a matter of finding one that suits you're personal preferences, it's easier if you say what to avoid. Avoid all restaurants that claim to serve good Indian food or pizza. But, I have not been to Tomato and Basil, though, and someone here said it was good for pizza. I like Blue Ribbon Sushi like other posters, but have not had bad sushi from any Park Slope restaurant

Is there a best of section of this board? Best advice ever: "Avoid all restaurants that claim to serve good Indian food or pizza". Yes it deserves to be quoted twice. Because we are quickly followed by the dubious fact that "someone here said it was good for pizza"... What now? Who to believe?
Should I go to tomato and basil? Do I like Blue Ribbon Sushi? Can anyone really believe a person who has never had bad sushi? Most restaurants are good? What? Are you kidding me? I'm so confused.
So, if a restaurant is good it's better if they don't tell anyone... unless that person is going to tell other people... but how can that first person really believe the place is good when we all know that we have to "Avoid all restaurants that claim to serve good Indian food or pizza"... wait... that only applies to Indian food and pizza...
Fuck, I'm confused... Raw? Mods!!! Carmen???!! Someone. Please. Help. Flexi, where the hell are you... we're shriveling up over here.

The fava bean puree marscapone ravioli with mint at al di la are stellar. I'm also addicted to the grilled chard stems. Okay?
-
Mod here: chard is a terrible vegetable. tastes like old pennies.
in an effort to reach consensus, i suggest that the official position of the board mods be that you should enjoy the grilled chard at al di la but you should under no circumstances get the chard.
hope that helps. -

I first read this as "tastes like old penises" and since it was from Sweat Tee, I was very, very confused

Seriously- I love swiss chard! It's pretty, it tastes interesting, I like it steamed, sauteed and stewed in tomato and anise sauce. Mmmm.

"Old" penises? Do they taste different than "new" penises? And who tastes a "new" penis, anyway? Eeeeeuw!

Booklaw (as usual) makes a good point.
