  • Rave: You guys talking about me. I just read this. The internet is everywhere. You can ask Al Gore. I feel loved. :P
  • Anastasia Beaverhausen wrote: Rave: people are jealous of my dinner with Scarlett and that we might make out!
    Yup! Bah!
  • rant: off to destroy my beloved tomato plants, which are dying of blight and risking infecting the rest of the garden.

rant: they had so many green tomatoes, and we've only eaten 5 or so.

    rant: i hate late blight.
  • Rant: train stuck underground due to sick passenger
Rant: homeless person screaming about the Chinese government or something while on said train stuck underground
Rave: Ran into Beave and she wittnessed my leack of self-control and intense curiosity about just how much I can get away with Hee hee hee!!!!!!!
  • Rave: Saw a school I love. Want to go pls.

Rant: Need 13k and also money to pay rent while I will be in school for 7mo and probably the next 6 months of not making any money. I am accepting Sugar Daddy applications and/or donations via paypal...kthx!
  • Oh just give up your apartment and think of the bigger nicer apartment you will get when you finish school.
  • Yeah, I dare you to move in with MeredithB!
  • Rave: back from suburbia with every single thing I own washed and clean.

Rant/Rave: totally huge and empty Trader Joe's and all stocked up full of stuff. Rant = they seem to discontinue everything I really like

Rant: my foot is all swollen and I look like I have a cankle from driving 2 hours

Rave: Simon seems to be doing much better and the internist thinks he's just "sensitive". I gave him a boatload of keeeeeeses.

(Sweet Tea - am sorry about your tomatoes. Can you send a pic of what they look like? I have some funky leaves and I'm wondering what it is. My tomatoes are all in pots, so hopefully it's not something that will spread)
  • google "late blight" and you'll find pictures. here are a few:

it started on mine with patches of whitish stuff on the leaves. i thought it was just powdery mildew or similar. then it started killing the leaves, spreading to the stems, etc. i have only had a few actual rotten fruit.

since you're not in an organic-only garden (i am -- rules of the community garden), i'd heartily recommend using an antifungal even if you don't have problems yet, because it's so common this year. the spores blow in from elsewhere, and there's nothing you can do to save an infected plant.

here's an article from the times about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/18/nyregion/18tomatoes.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=blight&st=cse

it's been especially bad because of the wet weather. fyi, this is the same disease that caused the irish potato famine.
  • Thanks...I have googled it before but those don't look like what's going on with my plants. I have some yellowing leaves and some greyish spots on some leaves, but they don't seem to be affecting the stems. Two plants have soft spots on the tomatoes, but they can be cut out and are not all rotten inside. I'll check out an antifungal

That sounds exactly like what my plants are doing.

I decided to stop worrying about it because the tomatoes are delicious.
  • not for nothing, you two, but i'd get rid of those leaves ASAP. throw them away -- no compost. my tomatoes taste good too, but at this point the plants have lost too many leaves to survive.
  • I cut the leaves out...and I don't compost at all, so am hoping that they all survive. They are super tasty
  • Rant: having to read a 250 page document that's in 10 point Arial. People really still use Arial? Fugly and giving me a headache.
  • RAVE: In three hours I'll be up to no good with my friend who lived three houses away when we were 13 and up to no good!
  • Rave: it's totally gorgeous out and I have all of the windows + the back door open and a great breeze going.
  • Rant: still have stomach bug
    Rant: still at work
Rant: muscles in neck are all bunched up and tight
Rant: still have an hour and a half of this nightmare to endure

Why don't you pretend you're blind and get someone to read it to you?

Excellent. Thanks for the offer. PM me for the address.
  • rant: apple tech support can suck it. mosquitoes can suck it (and they did - 5 bites on my arms, one on my ass and another on my face in 5 minutes outside looking at my tomato plants for signs of what better not be blight).

    rave: wine makes things better
  • rave: GORGEOUS day!
  • Rant: home sick.
Rant: the piles of work on Monday.
Rant: in addition to stomach flu, I have to drive to CT.
