The iroquois

Not for nothin', but could the Iroquois (new building on 8th Ave and 10th St) BE any uglier?

What in the hell IS that thing? :puker:

And isn't this supposed to be a historical/brownstone preservation area?

WTF?

  • Is it a sweat lodge?
  • Oooh....a sweat lodge would be cool
  • Not saying it's pretty, but I would say that it is prettier, and more appropriate to its location that just about 95% of all other new construction I see in the neighborhood, particularly on the edges of the nabe.

Most of the 'architects' doing work in the nabe in recent years should be beaten with a brick 'till their ears bleed, and have their fingers... Ah, nevermind - just send them back to Baku or Queens or wherever the F they came from.

I'd take the Iroquois any day over the crap that's mushroomed in the S Slope in recent years. Dozens of architectural abortions, and a small handful of uninspired buildings that at least don't make me gag when I walk down the block.
  • Secret confession: I actually like that building's design. Much like SouthSlopeSuit, it's way less offensive than some of the new construction in the teens - most of it reminds me of the worst of Vancouver. (If you've ever been there, you'll know what I mean.)
