parked car strike on underhill, corner of prospect

i set out for the alternate side parking mission early this evening to find that my car had been hit sometime between sunday night and monday afternoon (most likely sunday night) on the corner of under and prospect, kitty-corner from the bodega. it's an old eyesore of a black pathfinder. i found the driver's side mirror some 30 yards away and across the street. anyone see the accident? such temptation to cash-for-clunker the well-worn beast!

  • what is the parked cars' list of grievances?
  • Lesson learned: never park on a corner.
  • no grievances, other than not getting carwashed on a regular basis. my first reaction was "why didnt they leave a note?" i've left note when i as much as scratch anyone's bumper. guess this frustration is the price i pay to avoid misanthropy :-(. to add insult to the injury, i got a ticket today for "missing equipment," while parked and waiting for a used replacement to be located.
  • That sucks. As a regular cyclist riding up-and-down Washington and Underhill, it's this apparent reckless that driving scares the s**t out of me. Obviously I can't speculate on the circumstances of this accident, but so many folks drive dangerously around here, regularly speeding 35-40mph on residential blocks to beat stoplights, driving at night without headlights on, speeding around double-parked/stalled cars on one way streets. I sometimes wish Brooklyn was like my Wisconsin hometown, where the threat of being pulled over for speeding was actually a serious worry and deterrent.

You should be able to fight those tickets successfully. I can PM you a letter I used to beat two tickets for a stolen/missing mirror, if you like.
