Day Laborers?

Does anyone know where I might find some day laborers milling about in the general vicinity of Park Slope? I have some grouting that needs to be removed and can't get it done myself.

Thanks!

  • In front of the U-Haul on 4th ave and 6th street. I think it is 6th?

    or

On the far side of Green-Wood, by Fort Hamilton Pky
  • I see guys milling around in front of the Home Depot every time I go.

Do you have a Dremel or RotoZip with the grout removal attachment? Don't count on these guys having the tool or knowing how to use it
  • okay, this is going to sound really stupid, becuase it is. I regrouted my bathroom yesterday, and made a rookie mistake....a bad one. I applied the grout, but neglected to wash it off within the 10 minutes they tell you to....so I have an entire bathroom with grout all over the tiles, and it's hardened. The only way to get it off is manually, and it's a huge job. I can't possibly do it myself.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going for help!
  • I'm afraid you are going to have a problem removing it without damaging the tile. Have you tried a test? If so what tool did you use and how? I try a razor blade scrapper first then try a sharp, wide chisel.

After testing you might find it easier and less time consuming to re-tile.
  • It comes off with a razor, although it's going to take even more effort to get the neat job I was hoping for.

The guy from the deli around the corner is going to come here tomorrow and do the job for me. I am praying I don't have to re-tile, because that means re-grouting. And it turns out I'm not that good at it, LOL.
  • I googled removing dried grout and found a couple of suggestions like wet some paper towel with vinegar and soak to grout for a couple of hours before scraping also something called Sulfumic Acid Cleaner
  • Deli guy doing it now. Thanks for the suggestions, that's what I also found last night while mildly freaking out.
