  • I'm making chile verde with 2 tons of pork ribs (exaggeration)
But it wont be done for like...8 hours or more :-(
  • I can sympathize, every time I make ribs I don't actually get to eat them until like 10-11PM
  • Rant: sweaty nasty shopping trip to manhattan
Rave: simply wonderful extra dry shell pink rose from Austria in a riesling style bottle. Mmmmmm!
  • Rave: I sold my car and actually got what I wanted for it
Rave: AND I got paid in cash
Rant: Putting in my notice at work. It should be a rave but these things always intimidate and scare me.
  • Rave: Carmen is leaving that job and her stupid fucktard boss!
  • Mamacita wrote: I'm making chile verde with 2 tons of pork ribs (exaggeration)

Mama, get yourself over to Brooklyn Eats for my tomtatillo question, por favor
  • Rant: I hate to say this because I give "Danielle's Famous Red Hook Tours" to friends, but my friend and I went to new bar/restaurant Fort Defiance tonight on Van Brunt for the first time and they were out of cranberry juice (and didn't offer to go to the next corner to buy some). Then we tried to order margaritas but they said they were out of "one of the ingredients" (tequila?). We tried to order some food and they told us the kitchen was closed. We had one drink (the watermelon gin punch - excellent) and the bartender said they would have cranberry juice on Monday night (it takes 48 hours to buy cranberry juice??). I really hate to say this but I give the place 3 months...

Rave: Day trip to Beacon, NY today. Dia: Beacon is in a stunning 200 year old warehouse but, unfortunately has pretentious, ridiculous art (yellow and red paint stripes in 20 paintings around a room; a pile of broken glass, old car parts, etc.) However, the cute Main Street is full of art galleries, antique stores, and good restaurants. The town is quaint and beautiful and I highly recommend for a day trip!
  • Rave: Oscar was the "demonstration dog" at training this morning!
Rant: I'm starving and the restaurant below me doesn't open for another 2 hours. NEED EGGS BENEDICT!
  • Rant: the people upstairs from me are making bacon and the smell is driving me crazy. Why are they not throwing it down the window to me in the yard? Haters!
  • HUGE RAVE: I found 4 pieces of bacon in my freezer.
  • I can has bacon?

Rant: first of all it's going to be 90 today (HOT) and there's a air pollutant alert for our area:
... AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM EDT SUNDAY...

THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION HAS ISSUED AN AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

ROCKLAND... WESTCHESTER... RICHMOND... KINGS... QUEENS... NEW YORK... BRONX... NASSAU... SUFFOLK.

IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM EDT SUNDAY.

AIR QUALITY LEVELS IN OUTDOOR AIR ARE PREDICTED TO BE GREATER THAN AN AIR QUALITY INDEX VALUE OF 100 FOR THE POLLUTANT OF GROUND LEVEL OZONE. THE AIR QUALITY INDEX... OR AQI... WAS CREATED AS AN EASY WAY TO CORRELATE LEVELS OF DIFFERENT POLLUTANTS TO ONE SCALE. THE HIGHER THE AQI VALUE, THE GREATER THE HEALTH CONCERN.
  • Danielle, the exhibits at Dia Beacon do change but I agree that thematically this round ain't so good. Another cute art filled town to check out is Kent, CT.
  • Rave: Mad Men is back!
  • Flexi! Come over and poach me an egg. Bring Hollandaise. And some English muffins. And Canadian bacon. kthx.

    Oh wait...bring eggs, too.
  • Ew. Eggs. Blech. I eat eggs cooked in thing (like French toast, cake, etc.) but not by themselves.

Beave. Come over and bbq that bacon in my yard. Bring some screwdrivers (obvi the drinking kind)

Today is the perfect day for mimosas and screwdrivers. But unless there's aigs, I ain't comin'! I'm going downstairs for brekkie.
  • I'm 42 years old. My few aigs left are likely already scrambled.
  • Jackie almost just caught and ate a bee. He needs to take a lesson from Mr. Waffles (great kitty name!) on cuteoverload.com. Check out his big paw image
  • If you're going up to the Beacon area, it really is worth it to head across the river to the storm king arts center. You'd have to cab it, but it is the most incredible outdoor sculpture garden,
  • RAVE: have just discovered that my wonderful auntie poo installed a pool!!! Hello daily swim in smog free air!!! He neighbors have alpacas so they will be the only ones to see my swan dives. Wheeeeee!!!
  • scarlett wrote: Danielle, the exhibits at Dia Beacon do change but I agree that thematically this round ain't so good. Another cute art filled town to check out is Kent, CT.
Thanks for the tip on Kent, Scarlett. I'll check it out maybe next weekend. Also, thanks for letting me know that the exhibits do change at Dia Beacon.

Mougar - my friend and I were trying to remember the name of the outdoor sculpture garden north of the city. Thanks for the reminder (I didn't realize I was so close to Beacon or I would have gone, yesterday).
  • Rave :

Had fun in the city today.

    Rave:

    No curfew this whole week.....

    Rant:

....yet I'm still in at a decent 10pm.

I know , I'm totally doing it wrong.
  • Rant: realized I deleted some very important pictures from a memory card in my camera before transferring them anywhere else!! Gah.

Rave: the dog played a lot in the park despite his slow, "it's way too hot for me" start.
  • Mougar wrote: If you're going up to the Beacon area, it really is worth it to head across the river to the storm king arts center. You'd have to cab it, but it is the most incredible outdoor sculpture garden,
    ^THIS. storm king rules.

    also, rave:

  • Rave: Bison steaks. Who the hell knew they taste BETTER than beefsteaks! Also rave: friends who cook fancy dinners and invite me over! gorgonzola cream sauce, roasted garlic, olive bread, rosemary mashed potatoes, brie, brandy creme brulee with fresh berry compote...nomnomnom

Rave: i was so damn industrious this weekend.I sold my car AND navigation system. I rule!
  • OMG - that dish sounds great. Bridge Cafe (on a little cobblestone street just north of the Seaport) makes an amazing buffalo steak. So lean and delish
  • Grew up on buffalo steaks and burgers. Better for you, better for the environment. Pass it on.
  • i ate some great buffalo burgers at my mom's house recently. She bought them at Trader Joe's (in PA).
  • mummmm... burgers.
    RAve:
Ok people, BBQ is being planned! There will be a lovely garden, flowers, meat, drinks, and random mayhem! All sorts of awesome.

    Scarlett get back from vacation!
