  • ck11215 Sorry, but with only one post to your name your story is not credible. Please come back after you have achieved at least 10-15. Maybe 20.

I'd hate to have some of ya'll sitting on my jury.
  • THE BANDS RESPONSE:

“No member of my band kicked or would ever kick a puppy or any animal for that matter. This is a case of a sad man looking to get a rise out of people and put a little excitement into his mundane life and we want nothing to do with it. A golden retriever did come over and join us while we were doing a photo shoot, as did a number of other dogs and we all enjoyed their company. Every other dog owner in the park had the common courtesy to call their dogs after their dogs had a proper chance to sniff around, while this dog owner did not.
When the golden retriever wouldn’t leave we called to the dog’s owner who was standing smugly across the field asking him to call his dog at which point he came toward us shouting at us about it being off-leash hours and how the dog was a puppy, telling us to get out of the park and repeating “what are you going to do about it?” I specifically told the dog’s owner, “Yes, it’s a puppy, you’re a human being, use your brain and just call your dog.”

Someone who appeared to be the dog owner’s lackey took the photos that you see and I think they clearly demonstrate how shocked we were by the absurdity of the situation and having someone running up and putting their iPhone in your face looking for an altercation at 7am in the morning.

I hope that people who see this can understand that this has nothing to do with us or any sort of aggression towards dogs and is simply a bitter man, who knew he was in the wrong, throwing a low blow by relying on people’s responses to shock and awe type news stories trying to slander us.

Again, as a dog owner myself, I can assure you, I, and no member of my band would ever kick a dog. I hope this clears up any confusion and that we can all move on to more pressing issues.”

See Eric, you are a sad lying old man. I hope someone starts a smear campaign against you on the internet some day. Pathetic.

Your call. World won't end if you don't believe. This is my first puppy controversy, so I've never had to register and give testimony before.

Their statement is certainly a creative recreation. I love the "see, they released a statement so it must be all lies!" reaction. Because you were expecting the, "Yeah, maybe we handled the dog thing badly" response? They tell a sweet story though. Except that they were the only ones I heard yelling (from my vantage point) and then there was one other thing they left out....hold on, I'll remember....it was....oh yeah, it was the yanking and the foot maneuver. Story doesn't make much sense without that part.

Alas, as they said....time to move on to more "pressing issues." Like retouching the photos they took today?

  • I have been laughing at this thread all day. Very entertaining on all ends. But what nobody has really said is that if this band was really trying to use this as a publicity stunt it seems they would embrace the puppy kicking image.

They're music is pretty wimpy so they should really go with anything that gives them any semblance of toughness. Alice Cooper had his chickens and these guys have their puppies. That's how rock legends are made. I think they need a new PR guy

I hope this gets on Colbert Report or TDS, they could have some serious fun with this story.

  • I don't take any poster seriously until he/she has slagged off at least seven local restaurants on this board.

But seriously, who among us has never shoed-off a slobbering puppy before?

  • This whole thing is a made-up lie. I mean, has anyone really thought this through?

What nobody here has mentioned is that this incident could not have possibly happened the way it's been represented. I start with the most basic fact, that it allegedly happened at 7am.

There's just no way that musicians would be awake and in the park at that hour. Maybe a homeless drummer who slept in the park, but that's about it.

  • Was at the park yesterday morning. Got there post-incident. I did find it amusing that the band was out so early, looking so serious when they clearly were half-asleep. When they started taking pulls from a bottle in a plastic bag, it explained a lot.

If the band really wanted to put this to bed, the full denial when there were so many observers was an unfortunate choice. Young professionals (even Park Slope young professionals) have much better things to do than orchestrate a conspiracy against some band they have never heard of, and will never come across again.

Next time, I suggest they try saying "sorry for the mix-up, we didn't intend to act that way towards your dog" and we can all move on with our lives.

  • Eric is one of the few posters here who have made their identity known to all. This gives him a lot of credibilty in my book.

  • This is the best thread ever.

Carmen, your cowbell reference will get me thru my day.

  • So Eric, now that you have the band's myspace, what is it exactly that you plan to do?

Also, the claims about me being in the band just because I started an account to post on here is laughable. You've never created an account on a random message board to join a specific conversation? I've never even heard of this board until someone linked to this discussion. Guess I need to sit on my lazy ass and make a hundred banal posts before I have "cred"? Losers.
