Crazy Police Activity - Butler St. at 4th Ave - Monday Night

Hey, does anybody know the facts about why most of Butler Street btw 4th ave and Gregory Place was roped off by the police for several hours late Monday night? My fiancee and I were unable to get back into our new apartment on that block until around 2:00 a.m. and a ton of our neighbors were also sitting out on the street until then.

A couple people said stuff about a guy holding himself hostage with a ton of weapons or something, and there were several dozen police officers and firemen around, but I've yet to hear an official story.

No news crews that I saw, which was weird considering how many official vehicles were around. Anyone have some insight?

  • They wouldn't escort you back to your place? That sucks...usually they have community affairs cops on the scene to do that.
