COPS AT 7-11 ON ATLANTIC
im off this summer and walk by 7-11 a good amount of times during the day
how come there's always 2-5 officers and a police van hanging out, reading the paper inside all day?
always arresting a couple kids outside too .. im not saying kids didnt deserve it, but you have to figure that a couple kids being too loud during a summer night isn't deserving of police attention ...
serve and protect huh?
or what about the officers working the beat on fulton st everyday asking people not to smoke cigarettes on someone's stoop ..
how ridiculous is it to have six officers patrolling a highly public area during the daytime? if they could be working at night, maybe that might make some people feel a little better about walking home from the subway .. but nah, they'd rather chill out in dunkin donuts for 20 minutes at a time ..
just what are these cops doing aside from nothing?

There's a new cadet class out, just graduated.
Perhaps it serves as a checkpoint / check-in station for them, while they are out in the neighborhood for training?

Last I checked, 7-11 sold Krispy Kreme doughnuts 24/7.

Two years ago I went there to buy some gas on a Sunday afternoon. When I walked in, the staff, mainly the lady at the cash register, were tense and agitated. Seems that local youth (maybe gang related) would come in and taunt the staff before they would snatch and run with snack food, or whatever they could grab. It became so severe that the police would post up. -

The police are on Fulton Street b/c it has been deemed an "imact area" by the NYPD If you want to find out about policing schemes and deployment, and why there aren't police deployed during what most of us consider critical hours, join your block association, and/or attend your local community board or local precinct meetings.
Did you notice that the US Department of Justice denied stimulus funds to ALL of NYC? Do you notice that police are ALWAYS heavily deployed in the borough of Manhattan, in high rent business districts? This is how our tax resources are being allocated.
If you want action, get active. -

I would assume that those businesses who rent in a high rent business district have more expensive/valuable/desirable/whatever "stuff" than those businesses who rent in a low rent business district.
