Screwy Laptop Plug...any suggestions

I think the power jack(?) on my laptop may have come loose or has lost connectivity - any trustworthy repair shops locally?

I saw some do-it-yourself steps on the interwebs, but I'm pretty sure I'd make a hash of it if i tried it myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • This happened with my old laptop. I shelled out the 70+ bucks for a new power cord and it worked fine. Might be the cheapest option before taking it to a repair shop.
  • yes, definitely try a new cord. if you have a friend with the same cord try that first. if not, i highly recommend buying the replacement on ebay. they're slightly crappier, for sure, but i paid $10 instead of $70 - and it works totally fine.
  • I use Altour computer repair for work. Al Rivera is our guy and he's great - young, personable and knowledgeable. AND - when he doesn't know the answer, he says he will find out (instead of b.s-ing his way through). We used to have a computer person who was all about drama. It was such a relief when we switched people. If you need his help, please PM me.
  • Thanks, I may not have made myself clear, it's not the cord, it's the hole into which you plug in the cord.

I actually bought a new cord and I realized the cord wasn't the problem.
