Awesome apt and awesome hosts!!! You guys were amazing to open your homes and if you need help cleaning tomorrow (srsly I'll come over and do dishes!) let me know since I'm so close!! You guys RULE! Perfect weather and perfect food/crowd.
-
Hosting all of us is brave!
-
GAwd, those lamb kabobs from the Carny/voodoo household were amazing!
Voodoo's gazpacho was great too! Everything was awesome! Thanks OQ!!! -
Y'all brought some awesome food and drinks! We had a lot of fun--it was a great crowd. I'm glad so many made it out, and personally, I was happy to have it here instead of dragging all that food into the middle of the park

I would like to point out that the bacon cookies were pretty much finished off by the time everyone left. Next time I just need to add more bacon.
I'll be waiting for someone to plan the next event here! -
ah, hell! bacon cookies AND gypsy bacon? sigh.
-
Mougar wrote: if OQ is cool with a possible grease fire, I could put together some gypsy bacon and kimchee skewers
This man should be banned from working with fire. -
Awesome, awesome. Thank you so much OQ and Mr. OQ for being such gracious hosts, you have an amazing place. Booklaw, such a nice chat and Whatchuwant nice to finally meet you as well. And the rest of y'all, you know. Bacon, lamb, shrimp, sweet tea and you guys. How can life get any better.
-
I'm sorry about the bacon, next time there will be metal skewers and therefore less fire.
-
Had a great time. Thanks so much OQ & OK for hosting.

How did I miss the fire? Metal skewers can be hard to find, but I was inspired by the ones Carni had to look for good ones.
I have to say that once we put all the left over food away and dishes in the dishwasher, our place looks no worse for the wear other than a few crumbs on the counters. You can all come back! -
Mougar learned that wood burns.

Yep, I've finally caught up with caveman technology! -
Moug did you soak the skewers for 24 hours?
Handy tip: if you don't use all your soaked skewers, put them in the freezer for next timem -
i soaked the skewers for a few hours, but they were super thin so they couldn't hold much water. i'm just getting metal ones for next time.
happily i didn't cut myself on the bacon -
I think he did soak them, overnight in fact. I've actually never had good luck with wooden skewers, even if I soak them for two days. I think their usability is a myth.

I think they're ok as long as most of their length is covered by meat/veg and only the very ends are exposed. But if you only have a small piece of meat at the end of the stck, the rest of the stick is going to burn. -
Yes, I agree. My shrimp skewers in Portland were delicious and perfect! Also, Voodoo's skewers last night were fine. I think we agree it's all Mougar's fault.
-
Mougar brought the slab bacon, he is God's gift to BBQ's no matter what grease fires he creates. Kinda like when I almost burned down Voodoo's place making bacon wrapped dates.
-
So not- you should have had my shrimp skewers in Portland.Delicious and fire free!
-
^^^^ must be still drunk as am repeating self.
