Website question
I have a URL hosted by GoDaddy and a few others hosted by Network Solutions. I gave Network Solutions my GoDaddy static IP address so that N.S. could point several N.S. URLs to my website hosted by GoDaddy (I tried transferring the URLs but Network Solutions made it quite convoluted; until I feel like dealing with this issue again, I'm having them point the URLS for now which is free).
N.S. said that if I gave them the DNS (don't even know what this is) instead of the ip address, that it would be more helpful for driving traffic because Google picks this up better than ip address forwarding (or some words to that effect). They then tried to sell me some additional services like "Traffic Blazer," etc. (no thanks).
(And, yes, I need to edu-ma-cate myself better on these issues/terminology. I'm on vacation, though, so don't want to tax the brain this week.)
Is Network Solutions correct that I should give them the DNS in order to get more traffic or is this a ploy to then try to sell me another product? Can someone explain the difference and/or what the plusses and minuses are for either (IP address v. DNS)?
Thanks for any thoughts/help!

GoDaddy has awesome customer service and I have never had to wait more than 7-10 minutes. I would call GoDaddy and ask them what you need.

Thanks. I feel like customer service on both ends keeps trying to sell me products. On the whole, though, I tend to like GoDaddy more. The customer service people seem less like corporate drones and more like they know what they are talking about.

Yes, the GoDaddy customer service people are good, and when they try and sell, I have actually said, "I called you and would like to talk now."
5/6 of the GoDaddy people know their stuff. When I get someone who doesn't know, I simply call back. I love GoDaddy, so much better service then everyone else. -
