any places to get a Falafel in crown heights? — Brooklynian

any places to get a Falafel in crown heights?

Question. I see so many Middle Eastern & Hispanic people working in the corner bodegas in my hood, and it is basically no Mexican or Middle Eastern food spots. Do you know how much I crave a Falafel sometime or even just a basic Burrito. I live near Nostrand & St. MArks ave. does anyone know of a spot I may have missed. I've done some pretty hardcore searches on the internet.

  • Try Zaytoons

    594 Vanderbilt Ave
(between Bergen St & Dean St)

Not Crown Heights but close, the food is okay.

For Mexican go for Taqueria De Los Muertos, 663 Washington, or Chavella's, 732 Classon.
  • the google gives me
    Sabah Falafel
1166 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225 (Cross street: Rutland Rd)
    but no personal experience...

Every other Jewish nabe has great falafel, so there must be...somewhere...
  • Try going up Kingston after you cross EP. That's really the heart of the Hassidic area and you may be able to find falafel there...
  • Check out Chavellas on Classon Ave tween Park and Prospect Aves for good Mexican. I think they have a website. I ate there when they first opened.Cant recall if they do burritos but their food is very very good.Cant help you with falafels unless you travel over to Clinton Hill. A new falafel spot just opened on Myrtle between Clinton and Vanderbilt Aves.If not Zaytoons on Vanderbilt Ave. They also have a Zaytoons on Myrtle bet Washington and Hall, about 4 blocks from the falafel spot. There is a Burrito Bar on Flatbush Ave and Prospect Ave if you dont mind the trek .
  • Teddy's on Washington has falafal.

For Mexican, Chevellas is to die for ... and Los Muertas on Washington Ave is good too.

  • Every once-in-awhile there is a falafal cart on the corner of Bedford and Crown. I think he is there mostly when the college kids are there too... I haven't tried his food but it smells good.
