Renovation question — Brooklynian

Renovation question

Has anyone here renoved their home while the tenant still lived there? Im not sure what to do. I am giving my tenant new walls, floors, bathroom etc. and was told it would take about 1 month. I was thinking I should not charge them rent for that month - it comes out cheaper than putting them up in a hotel. But one month usually mean a month and a half. I really really like my tenants too. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • No advice but I wish you were my landlord.
  • how invasive will the renovations be? though the tenant will appreciate them when done, during the work they will be really put off, so you should be cautious. maybe if you just re-did one room at a time, allowing them to use your bathroom or whatever as necessary.

my friend's landlord wanted to renovate her apartment but luckilly there was one other empty apartment in the brownstone so she just moved downstairs while they started work. that was a year ago and they're still not done.
