Warthogs overhead today

has anyone else heard the planes flying low overhead. My friend said they are A10 Warthogs. I've only heard them, not seen them, 2x and this morning I was sure something was going to crash.

Anyone know why?

    fleet week!!!!
  • That makes sense.
  • now goto your roof top and enjoy the show unless its already over lol.
  • I saw some fighters flying in formation, but the ones I saw were definitely not Warthogs.
  • should be the blue angels. anyway they were buzzing the roof tops eearlier its cool :).
  • i love this forum. i was just hearing it and wondering about that...
  • I saw them this morning walking to the train station. If you get a chance check out the Blue Angels. They are 5 fighter planes that fly in formation and perform great tricks. They also perform over Coney Island this weekend.

I work in Downtown Manhattan and there have been some great propeller plans flying around here as well as what look like cargo planes.
  • I heard them, and got the Sept. 11th "here we go again" feeling. Immediately followed by "fuck it. I hope I die quickly" and then back to sleep.

flexichick - I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way more or less but it depressed me to think it.
  • I heard them, then saw them, and looked at everyone nearby on 7th Avenue, and we all looked nervous. I hate that feeling. These planes were all flying REALLY low. And loud. It's fun to buzz a street (or farmhouse, as I did with a pilot relative in my senior year of high school) but not to be under the plane when it happens. At least not anymore....

I thought it had something to do with Amtrak being down from D.C. to NY to Boston -- around 8am they had a electrical problem that left people stranded in trains for hours, and then the flight scrambling started up.
  • It took me a whole year to stop looking at every airplane that passed overhead after 9/11.

Oh, I don't sleep through anything, I just wake up, think about it and then just resign myself that this is "it". I was awake for WEEKS after 9/11 with the sound of airplanes, and then I just thought "hey, dying in my sleep wouldn't be so bad".

same thing happen to me after a car accident when someone died. i kept seeing them in my thoughts. couldnt sleep for like a month. and than just started to fade from memory.

but i do like how you think though. dying in ones sleep is the way i would like to go one day. wouldnt know its coming.
