this is a question for the yuppies in brooklyn
i was born in flatbush born and raised and also was also kind of raised in crown heights where i go to church every sunday and thats where most of my friends live , now as i remeber in this area everyone was living comfortable , the areas are still nice and still alive , but i have a question for yuppies or any1 who live in these areas that are not from brooklyn or nyc
my question is why do you people come here and try to ruin these areas cultures??
why cant you live here and adapt??
why is it now when all of our west indian brothers are known to be blasting their positive reggae music on out streets are now getting harrased by cops because some yuppie just moved in and doesnt like the noise??
if you yuppies complain so much , why move into these areas in the first place??? you already have displaced the poor hardworking people , now you want to harrass the culture???
now alot of you are gonna say i am a low life, but no im not i go to school and plan on being someone , i am studying criminology.
i ask these questions cause this is exactly what happened in harlem , these traditional african ancentry folk usually play their drums in marcus garvey park , it was so comfortable for the community , then all of a sudden a white yuppie moves in across the streets and called the cops and 311 non stop , why cant you all go away and leave our traditional neighborhoods alone???

Well Sir, where do I begin?
1) Who was here first? I have a friend in her 70's who grew up in the neighborhood. Maybe we should go back to having it the way it was then.
2) Life is constantly changing. Why did my childhood neighborhood change? It has since become crime ridden, loud and dirty. Before it was quiet, clean and safe.
3) Nobody is trying to ruin anyone's culture. Everyone needs to learn to live together. and respect everyone's rights- it isnt just the loudest people win, people are entitled to peace and quiet. i shouldnt have to ask my neighbor if I can take a nap. I have a stereo and a tv. Why shouldnt I be able to listen to them.
4)I dont think that everyone is so unhappy that the neighborhood is gentrifying. Alot of people comment how much better it has become. The new people dont tolerate the drug kids selling drugs in front of the house. I didnt pay a lot of money for my building just so some creeps can hang out front. The old neighbors are scared to get the police involved, scared of the retribution, the new people arent. Muggers get chased and arrested. In the five years I've been here its gotten a lot better.
5)tHIS used to be a really nice neighborhood. The buildings were built flor people with money. Hard times came and the rich left and the poor moved in and the neighborhood became run down, crime ridden and dirty. Which part of that do you want to preserve.?
6)wHY dont you adapt to the laws of this country? how about dont smoke and sell your weed on the street . It created crime and hurts the community. play your music so you can enjoy it and others can enjoy their music. Thank you I dont need you muusic rammed down my throat.
87)Move somewhere where nobody wants to live and doesnt care what you do i've been pushed out of many neighborhoods due to increased values. I dont whine about it. That is just the way life is. . -

THIS IS THE EXACT QUOTE I WAS WAITING FOR , SOME IGNORENT YUPPIE TO CHANGE THE EXACT WORDS I WAS SAYING , SO LET ME PUT IN THE ORDER YOU PUT IT IN
1.) first off all you talk about the 70,s and earlier right?? where as white people themselves decided to move out of the neighborhood because they couldnt stand the hispanic and blacks moving in the area with the suburban boom.
2.) crime ridden??? first off all alot of these areas were italian and jewish and were far more dangerous then they are now , i know this because my jewish teacher even told me when he lived in brooklyn when it was mainly jewish and itlalian he said new york was crime ridden , and no , since when was crown heights crime ridden and flatbush??? both areas have their good and bad parts so dont protest with your lies
3.) respect every1,s right , yea their are rights, but when a certain thing has been going on in a area for years dont fucking come back like your king and tell them to stop , like the harlem incident i posted , that yuppie just got their , those drummers have been performing since 1979 so hop off.
4.) please i live and was born in these areas , the average people hate it because just like all america, they dont care about the poor , these local residents dont like you yuppies and you guys come in here walking around looking very gay , and are very complaining , local residents would love it more if the government helped these areas if it were to benifit them , why do we need yuppies for our areas to be nice???
5.) like i said before that is a lie , there were neighborhoods in brooklyn that were italian and jew just as bad if not worse, and flatbush is a great west indian community , and if your a yuppie go someplace else , we want to keep the west indian community and not have to see some bar dedicated to homosexuals in our community , whats next?? are you people going to try to ban the west indian day parade?? does that parade get on your nerves???
6.) you dont whine about it cause your weak and live under a weak government who doesnt care about people , i hate seeing my puerto rican and african american , and even the ny white residents become homeless due to some gay looking yuppies who walk around like they are the shit , -
so which ethnic group are supposed to hate?
a) the gays
b) yuppies
c) west indians
d) orcs -
Stewardesses flying around the world
-
people who confuse "their" and "there"
I hate them like poison. -
a heinous sum they are
but i have greater antipathy for stewardesses who say
"for you and i" -
my pet peeve is stewardesses from the midwest and their grating accents as they walk down the aisle
"would you like a sneeack?"
"would you like a sneeack?"
"would you like a sneeack?"
"would you like a sneeack?" -

Just curious, yuppiesleavemealone. You seem to be in favor of labeling groups of people. What word(s) would you use to label yourself?

i'm buying a four-level tripple-wide maclarren stroller with a gps nanny

I'm mostly sick of people from other areas looking to get homes in Brooklyn and interrogating me about crime statistics ("excuse me, is it safe to walk near the intersection of Flatbush and 7th avenues at 7 PM?" or "are the subways safe on the weekends or should I drive my car to Ellis Island?").
If you think New York is a dangerous dump and are very worried about living here, please don't move here to tell me about it. I cannot imagine moving to another city and talking badly about it to its residents.
People moving in who are truly enthusiastic to live here and respectful of residents and friendly neighbors are good additions. -
yuppies leave me alone,
your first post sounded semi-0k but simplistic. your second post sounds simple minded and makes no sense.
I'm not going to argue with someone who doesnt seem to have any reasoning skills and cant make a cogent argument. -
As for all your anti gay comments, it truly shows what kind of person you are. I personally would love to have more sophistication and beauty that the gay people bring in. The tasteless whoreish outfits that abound here, especially around Labor Day are in extremely poor taste.
There are wonderful people here and then there are the truly stupid and ignorant. And do think it could be possible to cancel the West Indian Day Parade? What would we have to do accomplish that? -

I have to agree with the dude who hates the Midwest stewardesses ("we will be arriving at our destination in apraaaximately 1 hour"), but I'm also gonna nominate people who say they won't engage in this discussion because the person on the other end is ignorant, only to get the last word in 11 minutes later.tsarina wrote: As for all your anti gay comments, it truly shows what kind of person you are. I've met many truly stupid and ignorant gays. I've also met gays in tasteless whoreish outfits. I'm pretty sure they come in all shapes and sizes, not just sophisticated and and beautiful. Unfortunately, my experience with West Indians is a bit more limited, but I assume they come in all shapes and sizes, too.
Tsarina, please don't bother responding to this post, I have no interest in arguing with someone who relies on stereotypes rather than reasoning, and especially not with someone who types OK with a zero. -

O so now gay people have style , and west indian people who celebrate their traditions are whors , thats exactly what im talking about people like you makin it seem like these yuppies run stuff , first of all im a christian a devoted one , so im against gays and the whole practice of it , and second of all every one knows how racist west indians are to gays , especially jamaicans , so you being happy that "classy" gays are moving in is just tension , and once again explain to me how the west indian day parade is the whore parade?? your just a typical fake idiot who lives in this area and probably smile to these whores faces , fake -

i will be pleased to move to cobble hill or the west village as soon as i receive my rent subsidy check from the "crown heights for grammatically-impaired racist homophobes" fund.
for convenience, you may pay each year's subsidy as a lump-sum. -
