i'm implying that the christian beliefs of this community may not be under attack solely by gay yuppies.

Starlight Lounge was operating as a gay bar in Crown Heights since the 1960s, likely before you were even born. -

What does that have to do with what I said? You clearly are quite ignorant of the history of the area. The Starlight Lounge had a largely black clientele, mostly from the neighborhood. -

how am i ignorent?? because i dont want gays taking over the christian west indian values of the neighborhood?? that makes no sense -

I like that young professionals of ALL ethnicities are moving to the area. We, regardless of color, tend to demand better services and crime reduction tactics.
Also, my entire block was occupied by Jewish people prior to blacks moving in.

Some people are also leary of the self-proclaimed values of bible thumpers. Typing hatred on a message board is quite contrary to Christian values.

crime was lowering before you weirdos got here , also like one of these bloggers said why would you move to a neighborhood to complain about crime , wouldnt it be smarter to move a crime free or low crime area in the first place??? you people just lack culture and just want the neighborhoods to drain with you

Crown Heights has a long history of black gay culture (the Starlight Lounge was the oldest gay bar in Brooklyn). No one is taking over anything, gay culture was in the neighborhood before you were. -

Maybe you upstanding Christain West Indians should rise up and push whites, black americans and asians out of the neighborhood. :P -
I know facts dont play into your beliefs, but the highest crime occured here in the midst of all those god fearing west indians. The white population moved to the suburbs, and the rest fled with the oncome of all the crime and lawlessness that is endemic amidst all the peacefull reaggae music playing.
Honey you are kidding yourself that you have any Christian values, and you are not fooling anyone here. Go back to looking at your Christian "go-go" videos and enjoy the parade. -
You have to read every post and the mod doesn't shit out some this stuff. The post was about a shooting. Black,Jewish,Haitian go-go video history lessons at the Starlight since 1960,before I was born, thanks. Was there a shooting? Gay or straight. Erie music makes you violent?
-
No shooting I guess, our newbie troll yuppiesgetawayfromme is overposting and trying to show how all the new gentrifying gay yuppies who are trying to kill good Christian west indian culture, are creating a crime wave here in Crown Heights, since this was a god fearing and safe community blasting peaceful reggea music before we all moved in. In short there is no shooting for the present. But hey the parade is tomorrow - anyone want to hazard the death toll?

Could it be JAH???

There actually was a shooting listed for that location on the Newsmap yesterday. -

I live on Pacific between Bedford and Nostrand and heard five shots at around 10am yesterday. Soon the street was taped off and crawling with cops who wouldn't give any info except that someone was shot outside of our building.
How did this become a thread become vitriol about gays, West Indians and gentrification? We all live in this neighborhood together. -
and anyone who thinks that there aren't LGBT West Indians, especially in Crown Heights, is tripping. I'm sure most of us know at least a few.
Sorry to hear of the shooting, it's just really too common of an occurrence in the last few weeks and months. I feel for the families who have been affected and just hope that we can, together, on making our community safer. Gays, Christians, and all the Gay Christians would probably want the same thing. -
I'm with Jarvis.
There are LOTS of LGBTQ folks including West Indian and other people of color who are LGBTQ. I think it is really wonderful. I love Starlite! Starlite is my favorite spot in the neighborhood. I look forward to a time and place when all communities are safe for all people. -
So true! This newbie obviously hates more people than just yuppies. Scary he might be in law enforcement someday. Wish he never found us.

The most destructive force on this planet is religion, and in particular Christianity, and even more specifically those who ignorantly and hatefully impose those divisive and harmful beliefs on other people. Your relationship to your invisible friends should not have any bearing on the personal lives of others who do not share in your mythology.

way to go orbitboy, agree 100% with you.
the bible is the cause of every single war known to mankind.
i'm gonna go burn one right now. -
I think (I hope) yuppiesleavemealone is attempting humor of some kind.

I hope so. I mean homophobia in NYC in 2009? I bet you litter. -
