To be fair, his spelling hasn't really been any worse than anyone else in these forums. His grammar hasn't been so poor either. It's just the lack of punctuation which makes the posts hard to read.
-
just spell my name right on the check, that's all i ask.

thnk you someone hear has a brain
If you think New York is a dangerous dump and are very worried about living here, please don't move here to tell me about it. I cannot imagine moving to another city and talking badly about it to its residents.
People moving in who are truly enthusiastic to live here and respectful of residents and friendly neighbors are good additions. -

Cobble Hill and the surrounding areas were referred to as South Brooklyn long before you were born. You will eventually realize its hard to get your point across when your facts are wrong. And yes, people (especially adults) will take you more seriously if you write correctly with correct punctuation. Your "Jewish teacher" should have taught you that. I dont blame you, you are still a kid.
Also, the Dutch were here long before the Jews and Italians, Native Americans before that (most of us know this because we studied history, not because our Jewish teacher told us). You are still very much a child, and when your brain is done developing, your views will likely/ hopefully be more mature. Good luck with your studies in criminology, hopefully you not being schooled on this from the wrong end. -
"im 19 i dont need to spell right"
Is that what you're going to tell your prospective employer when you apply for a job in criminology? Good luck with that. I'm sure they won't care you don't know how to use grammar either. Sam would not be proud.

Thank y0u M.s herman f0r sharing y0ur ph0t0. it explains much ab0ut y0u.

Hey, you guys want to attack the young guy for typing sms-speak, but you type in 1337?
I've got 25 years in NYC, you?
You take this online forum all too seriously. If you really cared about the city, about your neighborhood, about those who are forced into less desirable jobs because they can't get the education that lands them a publishing job, you might do something outside of this forum. -
I've got more than 25 years in Brooklyn, and I do actually do things outside of this forum to help others have the opportunities to better themselves. Forgive me if I'm out of line expecting people to have a grasp of basics like grammar and spelling by the age of 19. I guess I'm old fashioned that way.

while yuppieLMA has some hateful beliefs that i find troubling--would find disgusting in an older man, but there's still hope that a 19 year old can see reason--i'll agree with herr hermann that his grammar isn't nearly as atrocious as you're making it out to be. below is an edit, merely for spacing and punctuation. for added effect i've done some capitalizing. we're all allowed to be fast and loose with the english language, especially if we're dashing off prejudicial rants. this isn't some sort of academic forum.

And this is yet another example of yuppies just trying to ruin areas: you complain about whores in the area? So why are you here? If you like the beauties gays bring in why don't you go to Greenwich Village or all the western Brooklyn areas like Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Park Slope, etc. Sorry, gays coming into this area and taking over not likely and West Indian women aren't whores. My sister definatly isn't one. Faker. -
Yes I have in New York for nearly 30 years, and 12 years in this community and Flatbush. (Oh am I allowed to reply? ) and have volunteered in many things to help the community and the people, my neighbors and animals. I'm also familiar with all the different types of people in Crown Heights.
This kid is not interested in an intelligent discussion or dialog and get insight. He's the type that thinks that West indian Culture is superior to everything and he doesn't need our degenerate culture. (Yes in a great big generalized literal and figurative nutshell) have you had experience with this type?
That is why nobody is taking him very seriously -

You've gotta be kidding. You must be. Pot. Kettle. Black. C'MON! -
Ask some west indians, maybe you will believe them.
-
the homophobia in west indian culture is rather unfortunate, because if it weren't for that i might agree that Culture rivals our own. think how different western popular music of the last 40 years would be without the influence of the Caribbean.

one may claim brooklyn as their home but much like public forums one never truly owns it
although spelling syntax punctuation and grammar seem to be an option in most online forums clear communication and the manner of one's content are imperative
one with the most pertinent information and fact always owns the conversation
so roll high gamers
and let's return to the op's original topic of hating gay yuppie babies that take over our ever changing neighborhoods -

Funniest part of all is that I've made no mention to my age or anything that would indicate my age. Tsarina was just being really insightful. -

Subject: Duped
Just chiming in to say I think we've all been duped by this "YuppiesLeaveMeAlone" character. I think it must be some sort of brilliant satire. The exaggerated adherence to the caricature and stereotype of a Black Teen is genius. Reminds me of the equally-brilliant Phil Hendrie Show or even some articles in The Onion.
Because if that person is real... that's actually slightly terrifying.

I read this post by yuppiesleavemealone first and I thought it was somebody attempting (poorly) humor:

I guess I was wrong. This ignorance is really appalling.

I hope yuppiesleavemealone is run over by the Druid's stroller. Now THAT would be humorous. -
The white yuppies with double-wide McLarens might get ribbed online or in the street. But think how hard it must be for a gay West Indian yuppie.

Karl the Druid wrote: [quote=yuppiesleavemealone]...first of all im a christian a devoted one , so im against gays and the whole practice of it , and second of all every one knows how racist west indians are to gays...
ok, prior pop quiz actually was a trick question
one can not be a racist towards a), b), and c)
answer key
a) the gays are a non specific club, but most do have an accent
b) yuppies are a gang
they come in all sorts of colors
c) west indians are a nationality, some of african origin and
some being of east indian descent
as typified in that delicious food
d) orcs a demonic race from middle earth from the dominion of the mines
bonus trick question: who are the brooklynians?

Subject: yuppiesleavemealone - Question For You
I'm not here to bash you. I'm think I may have an understanding of what you may have been aiming to express
What I'm curious of is:
Do you feel your neighborhood is changing and you have no say in it or no one wants to hear your voice?
Are you pissed that the neighborhood is changing and catering to the "new" tenants tastes/culture at the expense of your culture?
Do you feel amidst all this change, the "old timers/long time tenants" are getting the short end of the stick?
If any of that is true, please share your thoughts/feelings on that. -
SnowboardQueen - this is called reality. I've been called a pioneer. I've been called a gentrifier. All to my face. Which I really resent. I am a New Yorker who bought a house in an area I could afford. I have no ulterior motives. I just want a place to live. Period. The history of the city of New York is flux, change, rebuilding. I am part of that. And so are you, whether you like it or not. It is what it is.
-
roswed I do see your point. I am also a "gentrifier". I am part of the Secret Life of Black Gentrifiers, many who try to blend in and hide between the cracks and not be called or identified as the "G" word.
yuppiesleavemealone voice is one you rarely see in the Crown Heights - Prospect Heights boards.
He feels angry and powerless, granted it is not an excuse for name calling and rude behavior though.
I was hoping if we could get him to stop bashing and simply give from his POV what it feels like to see your neighborhood changing and to feel powerless in the face of that change, it could open up an interesting dialogue.
I have called 311 on many occasions for "noise pollution", but I find it interesting to hear how the other side views the situation to ultimately build a bridge of understanding so we can be better neighbors.
I'm not agreeing with yuppiesleavemealone name calling and insults, but unless there is some sort of attempt at civilized dialogue, then some of the "locals", "old timers" call them what you want, who are sitting on dangerous, explosive feeling, because of feeling powerless and not heard in a changing community.., will erupt and destruct.
An unfortunately they destruct on the easily identifiable gentriiers who may be doing nothing more than minded their on business at the wrong time in the wrong place.
yuppiesleavemealone unfortunately represents a large group that is mainly unheard so they just stew until they lash out. -
Or yuppiesleavemealone is a troll who lost interest after he got his reactions, and doesn't want to have a legitimate discussion with you. Hence the crickets.
Howdy, Stranger!
