Internet cafes? — Brooklynian

Internet cafes?

Are there any stores in the Park Slope area that offer Internet access besides the place on 9th street?

  • Ozzies on 5th near Carroll (or thereabouts) might have some computers. I feel like I've seen desktops in there, but can anyone confirm?

I know I'm not helping much but I've definitely seen a few farther south (18-20th Sts), on the streets not avenues, but just around the corner from the avenue. I'll keep my eyes open for specific locations next time I'm out and about down there.
  • I think Has Beans is one of the ones I'm picturing.

What about FedEx or UPS stores? I'm pretty sure some of them have computers for use in-store.
  • The UPS store definitely has it. I've used it before. Also, don' t forget the library on 6th ave at 9th. It's free there. And I believe the place that serves hot wings near the corner of 9th and 5th has it, which baffles me. The keyboards must be covered with hot sauce.
  • Ozzies is 2 hours free with a $5 purchase, and they have computers, too. Gorilla Coffee on 5th does, too.
  • The UPS store does have it, I've used it twice and both times the computers were SO shitty that it took literally 10 minutes to open and print out a .doc attachment from a gmail email. I couldn't imagine trying to use it for any sort of real "intensive" internet use. I'd say avoid.
  • Library, library, library, library, library, library. That is what they are FOR, these days. http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org.
  • I read that the Park Slope branch will be closed for work for a year soon.

I have not used the library computers here, but in other towns I know there was a pretty short time limit+a long wait+a lot of blocked sites. If that's the case here, I could see wanting to just go to a cafe.
  • I might have imagined it, but I think there is Internet service at the Tasti Delite on Union Street near the Food Coop.
