Capitalism: A Love Story

Calling Limbaugh a news source is like calling Howard Stern a news source.
i 100% disagree, and i'm sure Limbaugh's listeners would disagree as well. -

OT RANT: The left leaning right hating Obama worshipping NY mentality is prob gonna be one of the things I won't miss when I eventually leave. People here talk a good game with their Iphones and organic food but are really not much more open minded or forward thinking than the "right-wingers" they love to hate. Even with the economy continuing to tank, growing deficits, US debt ratings' impending downgrade & Obama looking to launch the largest federal budget of all time during one of the worst economic periods of US history, when I'm out I still hear mindless hipsters spouting off Daily Show talking point on Bush. It's fucking surreal. -

i agree that he doesn't deliver real news. it doesn't matter what we think, though. what the people who listen to him regularly believe is what matters. he is seen as a news source, so he is a news source.
Moore is a film director. -

You could say the same about Moore's films. Obviously they are both biased and we know that. But for people who just take either dude's work at face value, the bias and misrepresentation of facts is equally dangerous, regardless of who is responsible. -

Obama - against gay marriage because God says so. Welcome the religious left.
Obama - hires someone to run the IRS who didn't pay his own taxes
Obama - tells college students he supports the legalization of pot, then changes his mind during the debates
Obama - Public financing, for it, until he is against it.
Obama - Rev. Wright. Nuff said.
Obama - Contraception for women funded by insurance he promises us. You could hear a pin drop on the matter now.
Obama – promised Planned Parenthood that his first thing to do as President would be to sign an abortion rights law. What happened to that?
Obama – promised to revoke “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” Man, sure taking his time on that.
Obama – promised to release torture photos, then didn’t.
Obama – promised to recognize the Armenian genocide, went to Turkey, and forgot to mention it.
Obama – Wiretapping, decides to do it the Bush way.
Obama - Flooding Afghanistan with troops which neither party seems to support for different reasons.
Obama - health care, probably a lost cause this time around.
I guess liberal politicians aren't expected to deliver on promises, just to deliver a platform that appeals to New Yorkers. -

see, i really disagree here. i don't think Moore's ideas or overall goals are inherently dangerous or hateful (though he may go about promoting them in the wrong way, at times). Limbaugh's are dangerous and hateful. -
I guess liberal politicians aren't expected to deliver on promises, just to deliver a platform that appeals to New Yorkers.
whereas conservative politicians do...what exactly? something different?
everyone sucks. -

all you have to do is look at the State legislature my friend. Up until recently it was a Republican-led debacle for decades. -

right, which is in NY state, which has been Republican-destroyed for decades.
point is: you can't point only at Democrats, even if you live in Brooklyn. -

Well yeah. I have spent time in the south and the midwest and know the right wing version of the NYC uber liberal. have a strong aversion to both. -

Interesting, as you describe him, Limbaugh sounds very similar to Obama’s pastor of 20 years, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. I would say that Moore is as bad as Limbaugh and the president’s former spiritual advisor. They all:Gots to play the race card eh.
someone else brought up rush limbaugh. immediately i thought "racist bigot." you know, because he IS one.
-preach to the converted
-lie
-encourage misinformation
-fuel hate
-stifle growth and conversation
-and the list goes on…
Bulls*it. Prove it. -

if i do, will you actually answer a difficult question?
do you want some quotes from Rush? i'd be glad to post them. -

What don't YOU prove Rush is a racist?
is this enough? the first 9 are quotes. your turn.1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.
2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.
3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?
4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.
5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.
6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.
7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?
8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).
9. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.
10. Limbaugh attacks on Obama. Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush. -
eggcream, i have some audio you can listen to if you want. just let me know, ok?

yea. or flip flops by any president.
i'm actually kind of sad that i found those quotes. on the same page are some imbedded audio links. this man is truly a disgusting monster. comparing him to Michael Moore is an absolute JOKE. -
Limbaugh being a racist has nothing to do w/Moore manipulating the stupid American public.

Cool The Kid wrote: Limbaugh being a racist has nothing to do w/Moore manipulating the stupid American public.
Limbaugh got brought into this because of this untrue statement:pokersloper wrote: Michael Moore, the Rush Limbaugh of the left.
And although I can't prove it, I'd be willing to bet that the average Moore fan is somewhat less stupid than the American public as a whole. -

it does when people compare the two. several have said that Moore is "just as bad" as Limbaugh. that he is the Left's version of Limbaugh. -

just saying. -
I bet the average michael moore viewer is better educated on world events than most people.
I know that's true of Daily Show viewers.

Michael Moore has said, "There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled." I think he was referring to why his movies are so successful.
-
Even the liberals at Slate, where something like 99% of their employees voted for Obama, know that Michael Moore is a professional liar.

My favorite Slate line about Fahrenheit 9/11:
"To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery." -
Fahrenheit 9/11
most people agree that we went over there under false pretenses and that we need to get the fuck out of there. that was what the overall message of the film was.
