What's the neighborhood like?

Subject: What's the neighborhood like?

I'm moving to NY in a couple weeks and need to find an apartment. I found a listing for a studio located at Jefferson ave and Howard ave. I believe the exact address is 52 howard ave. Can anyone tell me what that area is like? An area I should avoid?

    It's not the safest area, but, then again, it's not the worst, either. The main thing is that there are really no places to go out for drinks, dinner, live music, etc. There's a cool cafe about a mile away called Goodbye Blue Monday, but beyond that, you'll have to trek quite a ways for entertainment. If you can afford it, I'd look elsewhere.

    Come and live in Carroll Gardens. Safe, beautiful, tree-lined streets with lot of great restaurants and bars. Good luck!
