Dear Brooklynian,
I have a question. Maybe two questions. I have enjoyed irritating people recently on different threads, however I don't want to piss them off with humongous photos. Is there an easy way to reduce the size other than downloading the photo from a google search and resizing in Photoshop, then uploading again to Flicker (or whatever) and coping "location". I know the mods can do but I want to do it too.
Bandwidth question. Does it eat up your bandwidth if a photo is uploaded that is, lets say more than 72 DPI? Anything more is kind of useless for viewing on screen I think.
Yours truly.

  • You can upload photos for free using imageshack.com and and you can choose the size you want it to upload as. Then they give you the links to use.

    Thanks, Mamacita,

Ok, I think that's what I'm doing now with flickr. you can pick small, medium, large or original. Just wondering if there is a way to do it "on the fly", Pulling a picture off of a Google search, pasting into a Brooklynian post box and adjust the size there once you realize in "Preview" that the thing is huge.
  • you could just post the link ...that way only people who wanted to see it would click.
  • modsquad, if you're on a Mac, there's always Skitch:

    http://skitch.com/

    Tutorial begins 36 seconds in.

  • Or you can use html to resize the photo. You don't have to be a mod.

Here's a link to the handy guide I posted before on how to do this (stickied on the Ask Brooklynian page):
