Dammit , I gotta study this crap and it's pissin' me off.

    Rave:

Snow boots. I'm trying to find a nice comfy pair.

Not no Napoleon Dynamite snow boots , tho.

Rave: Sorel boots are the best!

Made in Canada. I love my pair.

Yes, when looking for winter boots:
    ugly = warm

    Sorel wins. Always buy Sorel.

    Hey, these are cute:

Then my BFF can have boots that match mine!

  • Mine (the second ones pictured) are CRAZY WARM. My feet were cozy, warm and dry in -10˚ Montreal weather trudging through snow.

    OMG LOL!!

  • em, you know i love you, right?

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, DO NOT BUY KNITTED BOOTS

aside from the fashion stupidity, they are a terrible idea for the snow. they will be soggy and awful. they also look like garbage after one good storm (even assuming you didn't think they looked like garbage in the first place), because they soak up all the grime and salt.

don't do it. listen to your BFF here. or else get those ones with the graffiti on the back. at least they're funny.
  • Get the Sorel ones, Em! Then we can have matching BFF boots!
  • Does Roots still make boots? I wouldn't know since I've had my pair for about 13 years! They rock. Warm, not heavy, solid, perfect for snow and slush.
  • I agree with SweetT and Carny. Get the black ones (sorel)
  • you all must be talking about City boots.

    I'm talking about Adirondacks.

  • Em, I agree with everyone else. Get the ones that will keep your feet dry and warm. You will be sooo much happier than if you get the cuter ones which will end up gross and unwearable after the first time you wear them out in rain or snow.

    Rave: Homemade smoothie.

Rant: The seemingly impossible task of finding THE best surgeon in the area for repairative/reconstructive ankle surgery and getting in to see them soon. I'm not letting just anyone cut and sew on my feet.
  • OpossumQueen wrote: Rant: The seemingly impossible task of finding THE best surgeon in the area for repairative/reconstructive ankle surgery and getting in to see them soon. I'm not letting just anyone cut and sew on my feet.
Orthopedic surgery is more like carpentry than tailoring. Saw, screw and staple more than cut and sew.
  • rave: thought of carny while teaching my writing class last night, after reading this part of Gay Talese's "Frank Sinatra Has A Cold":
...when one of his men brought him a frankfurter with catsup on it, which Sinatra apparently abhors, he angrily threw the bottle at the man, splattering catsup all over him.
  • Rave: best reaction ever!

    I'm free next week.
  • ^^Eww , Why , you're gross.

But..but-I'm really liking the Ed Hardy ones. :( :

    image

They would look so good with jeans. :)

Ok so it's between the black Sorel's and brown Ed Hardys. :-k

    Rant :

Still haven't decided on me boots.Arrr.

    Rave:

    Maybe I'll get them both.

    Rant:

That's gonna cost me like $160+.

    Rave:

Only 5 days of fasting left.
  • Girl, your jeans are always so long, you wont even get to love those Hardy's boots unless you tuck your jeans in. Are you up for that?

That said, i do like Ed Hardy's tattoo designs!!
  • Rave: Em is talking like a pirate. Dare we have another "talk like a pirate" week?
  • Mamacita wrote: Girl, your jeans are always so long, you wont even get to love those Hardy's boots unless you tuck your jeans in. Are you up for that?

True dat. And then they rip on the bottom, But I don't care anyway. I like worn in things.

    Rant:

Somebody just got shoot up over here. :( A lot of loud gunshots , like 6-8 maybe.

I can hear the cops and ambulance.

    I'm free next week.

Wheeee! We'll have to start with a happy hour :)

I read a detailed description of the various procedures (they start of with one and if things are bad, they have to do another) and got light headed. I am not easily grossed out but the thought of invasive medical procedures on *my* body makes me ill, but the thought of getting rid of this almost constant pain and being able to do any activity I want in a few months makes me smile.

Rave: the weather and a trip to the BBG. My flickr account better watch out b/c lots of pictures of bees and flowers are headed it's way. Taking pictures (even if just cliche pictures of flowers) is relaxing and way better than thinking of sharp instruments in my ankle.

When we are done, we'll add it to this page.

P.S. Mrs. Why has repeatedly told me I can not do "invasive procedures" (medical, or otherwise) on other people. ...so, we'll have to keep it a secret.
  • Whynot, we'll just say that Whatnot did it. Do you take United Healthcare?

Rave: the internet. How the heck did people choose doctors for important stuff before it?
  • OpossumQueen wrote: Whynot, we'll just say that Whatnot did it. Do you take United Healthcare?

no. But I will accept Home Depot and Lowes gift cards.
  • Carnivore wrote: Get the Sorel ones, Em! Then we can have matching BFF boots!
Ok , matching BFF boots it is....

On one condition. You don't ever do to your matching pair what you did with your Dorothy boots. Agreed?

It's hard to agree when I'm not sure what you're talking about. :-k

    LOL!

    Hint : Shorts.
  • Rave: this past weekend. Delicious foods and my bestest had a GREAT time!

    Rave: Skewl!

Rant: its kind of scary and dark at 6am :(
  • I don't think Dorothy's boots were oxblood red, but close enough
  • Mougar wrote: I don't think Dorothy's boots were oxblood red, but close enough
Yes, although it would be interesting to see Dorothy in 10 hole oxblood Docs.

Don't worry, Em. I can't foresee a situation where I'd want to wear snowboots with shorts.
