Anyone with tattoos ever have an allergic reaction to the ink?

    I don't have any tattoos, but don't mess around with something like that. See a doctor ASAP to rule out an infection.

    Scabbing over if they go too deep is common, but I haven't heard of anyone having an allergic reaction... yeah, go see a doc.

    yeah I have a couple of tattoos and mine never scabbed over... please get it checked.

    very disturbing - go to the doctor!
    and I have two tattoos - neither of which has ever caused me a problem. well, aside from the whole "wait, what?" reaction.

    this may be a obvious, but a little puffiness is standard on new work

    what kind of info do you really want to get off a neighborhood message board tho? walk into a dr or a tattoo place and say "does this look normal to you?"

    I have a friend who's extensively tatooed, she found out she wa allergic to the bacterial ointment they advise you to put on afterwards. A possibility?

    yes some people are allergic to the ink, actually it's the dye in the ink. particularly red. call your tatoo artist and they will or should be able to explain it...hopefully! if not call' new york adorned' in the city, they are all solid, respectable artists with the medical knowledge. your doctor might not be privy to the type of info they can supply. good luck.

    before I posted this topic I had already consulted my doctor and thats how I found out about my allergic reaction to the red ink because it contains mercury. I got it on mothers day ( in a place called Whatever in the village), since then it has healed but I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else cause I never heard of this happening before.

    p.s. thanks for your concern and advice.

    Tattoo ink contains mercury? I would never have guessed that was legal.

    maybe red ink. i stick with black ink. it's lovely.
