PC on the Cheap - $70
Drano bestowed this PC upon me (much thanks!), I added a hard drive and used it for 3 weeks while waiting for some other PC parts to come in. Well, I got all of my parts in, and my PC is up and running which leaves us with one too many PCs in the house. I’m going to sell the PC for slightly less than what I paid for the hard drive (it's only fair- I DID get a few weeks out of it, for which I'm happy - I paid $85+tax for the HD).
-Dell Dimension 4400
-Pentium 4 processor (I forget the clock speed, I don’t have it hooked up anymore, but it’s fast enough for most people)
-100 gigabyte hard drive – for a frame of reference, I have about 50 music albums on my PC and they take up less than 3 gigabytes
-CD drive (don’t remember if it’s a burner or not, but I think that it is… a good DVD drive/burner can be had for about 45 bucks, and I’ll assist with the install, if you’d like)
-Floppy drive
-SoundBlaster sound card (don’t know which model)
128 megabyte video card (I think that it’s an nVidia GeForce 5600, or something…)
-Ethernet networking card (for cable/dsl modem) and an internal modem (dial-up/fax)
-19-inch Dell CRT (tube, not a thin LCD) monitor – it takes up more space than an LCD, but it does have better picture quality
Here’s what it lacks –
-Operating system – The hard drive is completely blank, this PC needs an operating system (like Windows) to be useful. Windows can be found for as little as $85 online.
-Keyboard/mouse – you can find these for 20 bucks and up
-Speakers – you can find these just about anywhere and spend as little as 10 bucks on ‘em. If you’d like, I can throw in a crappy pair of speakers to tide you over
If you or any friends need/want a decent PC on the cheap, let me know.
