My Passion — Brooklynian

My Passion

Has anyone seen the new addition to the 6th Ave retail strip in South Slope? It's called "My Passion by Terry MacMillan" (sp?). It looks... interesting. Seems a strange time to open a new boutique since nearly all of them on 7th Ave have closed up shop, Lily being the latest one to throw in the towel.

  • Instead of opening a boutique, why not a small hardware store? Spaces are small, but I would love to not have to walk all the way to Tarzania for everything.

And what's the deal with that empty store front (looks like two maybe) on the North-East corner of 7th Avenue and 14th? It's been empty for at least a year and a half.
  • You mean in that strange old/new building? Something m ust be seriously up with the spaces (which look fine from the windows) or the rents... i can't imagine why they wouldn't have rented yet. it's a prime location. Just, god help us, no more nail salons.
  • "My Passion" makes me think that the place is going to be filled with booze and porn or something. Not digging the name.
  • Neither does the sign that advertises "Woman clothes"
  • The impression i get from the signage is that the eponymous Terry is selling clothes that she designs and sews herself

As a project runway fan i am intrigued

And walking by yesterday I saw a pink camo print dress that was really cool looking -- tho nothing i could pull off
    :D
  • I've got nothing against the store or designer... but anyone who knows my pet peeves knows that #1 is bad store naming and #2 is bad store signage.
  • Well this is certainly an example of both
The name makes me think of Mel Gibson, and not in a good way
And as a recovering english teacher i morn the lost art of the apostrophe
  • IS there a good way to think about Mel Gibson? I don't think so.

There used to be. Somewhere immediately following the bare ass scene in Lethal Weapon I, it all went south.
  • Weird - what about the bare ass scene in Bird on a Wire? Love that movie.
  • Isn't there a writer named terry mcmillan?
  • Stella Got Her Groove Back
  • ^^That's it, that is what this store makes me think of and that is not a good thing

    Tarzania's hours stink.
