No, no other choices for cable in park Slope. You can get direct tv, dish tv, etc..

You can get DSL internet from Verizon. I pay $86 for unlimited phone and high speed internet. with all the taxes Works every bit as good as TW cable did for me
For TV get an antenna (-8 -
There are many, many, many postings on this board re: Time Warner Cable. Unless you want multiple providers for your media, they're it.
Here's the deal for the foreseeable future, so clip and save:
1) Cable - IN PS, it's Time Warner. That's it. They also provide phone and internet.
2) Internet - Also Time Warner. TW also sells Earthlink over its cable wires, besides their own RoadRunner service.Like everything else, if you wants higher speeds, pay up.
If you want DSL, it's Verizon. Besides their own service, they provide the copper for other DSL providers in the area.
3) Phone. Regular copper - Verizon. Cable - Time Warner.
4) Satellite TV. If you can hang the dish, it's DirecTV or Dish. DirecTV has the exclusive NFL package and more HD offerings.
5) Verizon's brand of integrated cable tv/internet/phone service aka FiOS will be here sometime within the next decade to compete with TW. Don't hold your breath waiting. -
what he said ^
(thanks DW) -
Is 1.5 M download standard for roadrunner?
Maybe I should just have her call the cancellation line and threaten to switch to Verizon and see what deal they offer -
my roadrunner has always been slow, I call and they switch the channel I'm routed on but it never helps. I've pretty much given in and lost hope.

go for it if you want to waste your time.
Just wait until DOCSIS 3.0 comes out later this fall. That will bring it up to fiber speeds. -
Just use what I wrote as the sticky. Fine by me.
And yes, lean on TW. Deals can be made if you mention the competition, whether it's Verizon or DirecTV. Especially if you're a long-time TW subscriber. -

Once you've got a fast internet connection the possibilities for VOIP phone grow. Not only TW but Vonage, 8X8 and more -
I've been consistently getting 1.5mbps or less at night (from 8pm when I get home on). I just called time warner and their solution (as always) was to try and send a tech. He had no answer as to how a tech would help a problem where at 8am I get 10mbps and at 8pm I get 1.5mbps but to say "I can't elevate the problem unless we first send a tech and you haven't had one out there since last November."
He also had the gall to say that they were unaware of service issues in Brooklyn of any kind. Seeing as I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who gets such terrible service from them and has no other real options (ADSL 2.0 for 149.99 for 8/1 is the closest in bandwidth to timewarner for just triple the price). I figured I'd come here and bitch.
He did say to encourage my neighbors to call and report their service too. So could the rest of you suffering under Time Warner give them a call, and if you're not suffering post your street so I know where to move next
Incidentally speakeasy has a good speed test site http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest choose the new york location for the most consistent results.
