  • i just saw that too, lol. was wondering if anyone would point it out.
  • Actually, Michael posts on these boards a lot as realtorguy, though I haven't seen him around lately.

The Curbed.com post seems a bit uncalled for, but I guess it depends on how Michael feels about it:
Corcoran Realtors Are Big Muscle Bears

We already knew that Barbara Corcoran, the teeth-gnashing doyenne of overpriced real estate, is cool when it comes to the web — her professional website has its own goofy little blog (written by some peon), which is kind of adorable. What we didn’t know was that the CorcoDevil was so relaxed and hip to the ‘net that she even allows her brokers to list the company website on their Big Muscle Bears profile.

  • Yeah, this is pretty "who cares" for me as well. That kind of thing is only funny if the person's day job is ironic, like ass-kissing fake news "reporter." NYC real estate agent? Eh, not too surprising.
  • Was it on Curbed too, or only Gawker? I think the notable aspect of this was simply that it was published at all in such a widely read gossip e-mag. I doubt the poster of this thread was mocking the subject, himself, or his orientation, rather than merely point this out.
  • gawker is just obsessed with cocoran. it really doesn't have anything to do with mike, IMO
  • Subject: realtor guy speaks up...

howdy neighbors... i'm still getting email about this, so i figured i'd say something...

the worst and truly embarrassing part of all this is that some folks found it "helpful" to forward the gawker post to our CEO, regional manager for brooklyn and my manager (but i gave her the heads up before she got it)... there was no need for it. management is not happy with me but no one is ever happy with negative publicity no matter where it comes from.

i am literally in competition with over a million other agents in our great city so to stand out so i've used lots of different sits to network. friendster, flatster, my space, and my blog as do many other agents. i guess i'm the only one to include a link to my listings. some think it wasnt such a good move while others (mostly friends) have applauded... they think its funny... <shrug :-/>

for the record... am i pissed? of course, but i'm getting over it. and no, i didnt get fired or let go... as a matter of fact, my partner and i found a place in ft. greene around the corner from my office, so i'm giving up my desk (we're gettin hitched next year). you'll still see me around CH and PH.

so now its simple word of mouth when it comes to networking for me. you wont see my corcoran page anywhere else on the web except for the corcoran site. if you'd like references, i can forward along names of landlords/owners i've rented apartments for, buyers i've sold to and sellers i represent today.

thanks for seeing this for what it is and thanks for the kinds words and support...

Gawker is ridiculous anyway. They targeted the president of one of the organizations I work with. They just love to gossip and rarely fact check. I forgot which celebrity the paper mentioned a few weeks ago was suing them. They are a mess.
