New Latin Restaurant — Brooklynian

New Latin Restaurant

Has anyone tried that new spot on Classon Ave off Greene Ave next to the hair salon? It is so small you can surely miss it.I think it is called Pilar or something.

  • I believe it is Cuban and there was a sandwich board out front last week
  • It is Cuban and judging from the website Pilarny.com, they sell alot more than sandwiches. The food looks delicious.
  • I have not even noticed it. Thanks for posting it. I want to check it out.
  • I stopped by two weekends ago on the way to the G train (normally take the C) when I noticed the sign for iced coffee! Didn't have time to eat, but was looking for some caffeine. The folks working there are very friendly, and at that point, she said they had only been open for a week. I definitely plan on going back to actually try the food soon, as the menu looks great.
  • We've dropped into Pilar a few times now. They are slowly opening and gradually adding product to their menu. Each day they have a few specials in addition to the sandwiches, potato omelette, and empanadas. Everything is homemade, including their chorizo. We had the shrimp with sofrito over rice with plantains the other night and it was delicious.

They seem really nice and we're looking forward to seeing them do well and maintain a spot in our very small rotation of quality take-out in the area :)
  • I dropped in while walking my dog and had the cuban sandwich, it was really good, I'll be back with the wife.
  • I ate from here for the first time yesterday, yes I know I late but I was not in the country for a long time. Anyway, I LOOOOVE IT! I had the most delicious chickpea salad with hearts of palm, pickled cauliflower and black olives and I swear I could eat that every day! I also got a grilled cheese that had sweet plantains on it and was on the really good multigrain bread with seeds in it. The empanadas and tortilla espanola look incredible and I swear I am going back again today to try them! Besides that, the people were really nice and friendly. This is my new spot!
  • I've eaten their Cuban sandwiches a couple times and they're great. The big thick grilled cheese looks amazing too.
  • The grilled cheese is sooo good! Between the plantains and the bread they use they're def special. While I love all their food (the vegetarian platter is a staple) I love their Thursday special of sofrito shrimp. Gah. I love Pilar.
