Is preaching on the Trains illegal? Should it be?

I am a practicing Christian however I get VERY annoyed when I have someone on the trains, particularly on a quiet morning and starts PREACHING!

Everyone tries to NOT pay attention and they keep going, and going, and going..

We are all a captive audience between stops and I've been tempted more than once to just toss them off the train at the next stop but with my luck I'd have a cop standing right there.

  • I find them annoying, but am loathe to restrict freedom of speech when the speech in question is merely annoying.
  • Preaching on trains is as old as trains themselves... preaching does not bother me as much as asking for money or playing bad sax (is that guy still around?) Just read your book or newspaper and tune the preacher out--new yorkers have learned to do this from childhood.
Maybe you should pray that the preacher stops talking and then pray for his/her soul... isn't that what Christians do?
  • I'd rather pay somebody that have to listen to these "inspired" idiots yell at me. Maybe I can pay them to stfu.

I would agree with you however, their choice of place and timing of their "speach" makes it difficult if not impossible to get away from theirs!

It's not a matter of freedom of speech when NOBODY wants to hear what you're saying

W/o headphones I prob would have reached the 'SHUT THE **** UP' point long ago.

And I saw the bad sax guy on the L train about a year ago. Hilarious!
  • The problem is that few if any of these people are mentally stable.

There's nothing I can do to change the situation.
