  • wtf? how did she get in there? she's actually stuck IN the dishwasher? are there removable parts (racks, blades)?

any chance she can get herself out with some gentle coaxing or some food?

Poor baby. Please keep us posted.
  • she's stuck in the pipes behind the dishwasher - called the fire dept and an emergecy plumber so i should have some news soon - not sure if there was some kind of animal emergency number that rescues cats....
  • shit. silly kitty. she sounds like my stella - always exploring and won't learn her lesson until she's on fire.
  • Whew - took apt the dishwasher myself - this was after the police came and right before the plumber got here. Kitty is fine, thanks for your support flexi - here's a photo showing how she got stuck:

  • what a silly monkey! give her a big lecture (followed by keeeeeses and treats).

yesterday Stella hopped the fence into the neighbor's semi-abandoned yard. I had to call my neighbor to help get me over the fence (am recovering from a broken ankle and the last thing I needed to be doing was jumping fences). She was on punishment (that lasted all of an hour or so)
  • Wow, the same thing happened to my other cat Simba, who crawled thru the fence to my neighbors backyard. Luckily i was able to crawl through the space after her since I'm pretty small, through I did it at nite and had crawled through some poop and dirt. Bad kitties!
  • Stella thought she was SO funny. She was just rolling around and showing me her belly. I had to go get chicken wire and try to build up the fence higher so she couldn't use the same path she used before. My poor Jackson just looked all saucer-eyed and concerned. He would NEVER do something like that.
  • oh wow, what an adorably cute yet sad picture. Glad kitty is okay now.
  • Thanks - what's even crazier about the situation is that I had just brought her back from the vet a few hours before after dental surgery and a deep ear cleaning. I think the anesthesia and the ear cleaning had such an affect on her that she tried to hide in places that she normally doesn't - she's not even a hidey cat. I think its instinct to do that when they're not feeling good.
  • poor baby. she has had a crap day.
  • excellent thread!

...sorry I wasn't around, I could have helped get the dishwasher out.

Do you have mice? ...could it have been following the scent of a mouse?

    silly cat.
  • I think she was just confused (high) and upset. They do like to hide when they aren't feeling well. The vet visit did her in. Can you keep her close to you tonight (maybe move food and litter into your bedroom so she can't wander too far)?
  • Yes, I will keep her in my room and will lock the 4 way cat door so she can't get out. The vet said she might be disoriented because they removed a lot of gunk from her ear and it caused her to wobble a bit and hide. She's sleeping now and when i throw a comforter around her she seems to stay on the bed. Thanks for the support!
  • am curious as to what the police/plumber said and did......
  • Well first I called my building manager for advice and to find out if my offsite super was around. The super was out of town so the manager said that he spoke to his sister who's a cat advocate and that she said to call 911 to send the fire dept, which I did (i would have called them directly except i didnt have their number handy).

Except I didnt realize that they send police officers as well, which was kind of embarrassing for me since I knew there was nothing they could do and they had more important things to handle. I had managed to find a emergency plumber guy online who was on his way so I told them they could cancel the fire dept call. Right as the plumber guy got to my block, i had managed to unscrew part of the dishwasher and was able to pull it out enough so the cat was freed. Crisis averted!
  • Is that a nickel in the photo?
  • image

    Oops. Somebody had to.

    Glad to hear she's okay.
  • Cabaki, you gotta make that picture your avatar.
  • Clearly she was after the nickel laying on the floor. I hope you got it out so she's not tempted to go back in after it.
  • I think she was huffing on those pipes. Look at the face of bliss she's wearing back there

Wow, didn't even occur to me to make a LOLcat out of it. I guess cuz it wasn't so funny at the time!!

Interestingly enough, this morning she managed to get herself stuck under the bed in between the bed and drying rack under the bed. Didn't grab a picture of that, but will definitely send one over if she gets stuck in between the toilet and the sink :)
  • Aw...she's upset and confused. She needs a babysitter until she's better
  • awww silly cat. btw can i use the pic on the net :p. lolz cat folks would love toe put more captions on this.
  • Sure armchair - I'd love to see what other lines will come from this....
  • here is what some of the guys came up with, i didn't know there was a nickle there till they pointed it out LOL:

JUST A LITTLE MORE .... A LITTLE MOAR!

    AH ... got my nickle!

  • Cabaki.. serious not.. the kitty will stop getting stuck. It is instinct to hide when they are in pain and the dental cleaning does make them uncomfortable for afe days afterwards. If she is on any oral meds for pain today that will also put the kitty in to small spaces. Now that all is ok.. let the laughs over the photo abound.
  • Thank you veets - I definitely feel better knowing that this is a common reaction. Now I know next time to cat-proof my house in every imaginable way next time I take one of the kitties in for a procedure!

I like these 2 captions - I'll wait to run across this LOLCat on the web one day!
  • WTF? Why did the cat go in the dishwasher??
