Anyone else hear the altercation at 3am (ish) last night? woke me the F up :x Cops came but it had pretty much blown over by that time. Think they just made everyone go about their buisness.

ugh. 3am "BITCH if I have to tell you one more time to get in the car...."

  • I walked past there around 2:30ish last night and nothing was going on except for their never-ending "private event," but I'm glad I missed whatever happened. Has there ever NOT been a "private event" sign on their door? That place just seems shady as hell to me.
  • 2 things:

I called the cops on the joing last night around 3 a.m. when I was walking by and totally scared of the yelling and shoving and door slamming going on.

I heard through the nabe grapevine that the place is an illegal strip joint w/ lots of drug use and illegal gambling. AWESOME. blah.

I'd heard part 2 before I walked by last night so I was kinda hoping that when I called the cops they'd go inside and shut the joint down. too bad.
  • Helloooo, Detective Raton? You still reading this message board?

should I call him tomorrow? do you have his number? I'm very upset about this place.
  • It sure sounds to me like something we wouldn't like to have in the neighborhood, but it's up to you. You live right across the street from it!

The number for Det. Raton is 718-735-0634 -- it's been posted several times; I just found it through a search.
  • hope you guys get to shut it down :).
  • Ok I'll bite,

    where is this joint?

 PK's (hand-painted sign - real classy) is in the old Utopia space, south-east corner of Park Pl and Washington Ave.
  • Its kind of random how they get away with all of this (well actually its really not as some of the cops in there are a bit skeevy)... as they are right next door to the police station...

maybe the cops are the main customers ;).

Yesterday my wife and I were on a walk with our dog and we passed in front of that station, we live around the corner. There was a guy standing on the steps talking on his phone, we didn't hear much as we passed, but what we did hear included, "... these muther-fuckin' white guys..."

Now, I can't say for certain that he was a cop, but I don't see too many non-cops entering or exiting that building, much less hangin' out on the steps to the front door...
  • for what it's worth, the community board voted last night to withhold support for their liquor license....that doesn't mean they won't get one, it just means that the state will think twice about awarding one...

they're serving liquor. trust me. they give about 1 shit about a license.

From what I remember the bar (Utopia) was being rented out, liquor license in place. Is there a new application process that a renter would have to go through to take this over? If so, is it easy to deny it? I can understand that if the new owner is an ex-con or something it would be easy but if not it would seem more difficult since there was a bar there previously.

I admit I know little about the liquor license application process, can someone fill us in a bit further?
  • yuck I HATE that place, and now I hate it more if it's a gross drug den strip joint. We live on the same block as the police station, and I've often wondered why I never see any actual cops. Are they all in P.K.'s? ew. The place is just an embarassment and the sign needs to be burned down. Anyone want to help me?
  • I'm amazed that I wasn't awakened by the yelling, I live right there. I suppose the "urban" noise has become background to me. I actually vaguely do remember now some noise sunday but I tune it out and go back to sleep. but, Ahem. PK's is sooooo shady, I've posted about it on here several times. they make it a point to keep the curtains shut tight. and the music and the overall profile loooow, too low. The "private event" has been going on for months now and I have NEVER seen the open sign on, but on the weekends well dressed folks come and go but the door opens and shuts quickly. :? WTF? drugs n strippers wouldn't surprise me. other than said street fights it's WAY more chill than Utopia was 2 years ago, drunken street fights was the norm in front of my bedroom window then... maybe some day it'll be a legit regular bar.
