I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did with that awful food.

Hate to say this... but haven't eaten there in a decade! Me and everyone else. I remember the elaborate presentation of a duck dish in this aluminum foil DUCK.. but the atmosphere is so competititive that restaurants can't coast.
It is second story.. but a very visible second story. I hope someone takes the chance and restaurants the space.
We do not need another bank. -
WOW. Thai Taste Restaurant was around forever. They were OK, but a couple times when I ordered from Thai Taste Restaurant, the sauce was missing spice or just plain missing.
I stopped ordering from Thai Taste Restaurant once I realized Mango, Rice Thai Market, and Lemongrass Grill, which are also on 7th Avenue, gave you more food more spiced for less money.
There are several empty store fronts on 7th Avenue now. -
No other Thai restaurant serves Blue Hawaiian cocktails, though. Those folks were almost Polynesian. And the view...

Good point. Come to think of it, who serves Hawaiian anything? -
RIP Trader Vic's!!
(Edited to admit that after I posted the above I Googled the name of this old, long-defunct - I thought - tiki chain, and discovered that it isn't defunct at all. Just much smaller than it once was.) -

The Hurricane Bar at the Fairmont Hotel is where I get my tiki fix (unless I am lucky enough to really be in Hawaii)

Horrible food, good riddance. It's hard to find good Thai food in NYC (imho).

Disagree. I'm all for the trendy Thai junk food restaurants in Park Slope. Pongsri in Manhattan's chinatown is good for the classic stuff and home-made desserts. -
20 years ago, they were the only game in town. The only other Thai spot was on Court Street. The people were very friendly. True, the food went down-hill after the more recent flood of Thai restaurants around here. It's all pretty generic though. I guess Long Tan is an exception but they are more Thai nouveau.

noticed marshalls sign on the entrance.
those fearing a bank would do well to remember that a bank needs a
safe place for their safe (ie not the 2nd floor
) -
Hey, I liked that 2nd floor Thai place. What a shame. I'm not a fan of that Lemongrass Grill place. Guess I'll have to go to Mango.
There's another good Thai place somewhere in South Slope, but I don't remember the name. -
i forget what that thai restaurant in north slope is called. sister restaurant to other no name restaurant in Carrol gardens. i like their atmosphere.
Howdy, Stranger!
