Rave: top 10 failed McDonald's products. The Jason Alexander video is hysterical.

Rant: Finally had my big meeting with the new leader. He checked his blackberry most of the time.
Rave: made star shaped banana almond breads for when my staff hear the news tomorrow. Smells sooooo good in here! -
Rant: I was WAAAAY over qualified for this morning's interview. Complete waste of time. The person I interviewed with didn't even have the power to pass my resume on to someone who might have more power.
Rave: Another interview with another firm, tomorrow. This one should be much better. -

How did you end up on such a crappy interview? I won't go to a meeting unless I know who I am meeting with, have determined that we are in the right ballpark as far as experience, etc.

One word: Headhunter.
Other words: The sometimes faulty assumption that it is better to go on an interview than sit home and (ahem) play with my wood.
(please note the writer has a table saw in his apartment) -
Rant: AAAAAAHHHHHHH have image in head of stinky whynot playing with his wood. GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Rant: Anyone who suggests that it is better to have my husband stay home and play with his wood. Even if he does have a table saw.
Rave: A husband who will go on any interview, even ones for which he is WAAAAY overqualified. -
^ Eh. Crappy interviews are almost always a waste of time (unless you somehow learn something or get to meet somebody who can help you get to where you want to be), but I can totally understand why MrsWhynot does not want Whynot sitting home and playing with his wood (that one was for you, Scarlett)

Cruelty! And I thought year end budget forecasts were scary. Now I know, it's all about that guy and his wood. EW EW EW EW EW EW!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen!! And what about all the restaurants that only have their menus as a download instead of on screen? Boo. -
oooo, stealth pdf's are my most-hated web feature. and what's up with using pdfs for features that don't change? i ended up downloading driving directions to something or other the other day. driving directions. surely you can commit to your current location long enough to just put it on the damn site?

Directions?! Hahaha. It would only be better if it were a flash animation!
When I got to a restaurant website and it starts with flash (which for some reason most do-I guess it's in the eatery website kit) it makes me like the place a little less. If the menu changes periodically, just put up a sample menu instead of a pdf that will never end up being updated anyway. -

must have been a private event...
so, we'll allot 1 minute for the rematch? -
Suddenly one of my everyday raves has become a rant.
Several months ago I happened to find myself in a Stop & Shop in dire need of more coffee.
They had several gourmet brands around $10 per pound, but they also had a pretty impressive [looking, anyway] array of "Simply Enjoy" white-labeled (for Stop & Shop) roasts in several different roast strengths and blend types from Colombia, Brazil, Guatamala, Sumatra etc.
And those were on sale for $4.99, half the price of the other finer stuff adjacent to it.
What the heck I figured, how bad could it be, so I grabbed a 1lb bag of their Colombia "El Troje estate" Dark Roast at the $4.99 sale price.
You may not believe this but wow...it was some pretty strong, velvety, full-bodied, reaaallly good stuff.
Okay, in reality it probably pales to a fresh bag of Peets but let's just say that for a local bang-for-you-buck option it's been my happy little secret for the last several months.
Until now.
I just went back last evening for my latest stock-up spree and guess what:
No more shelves lined with the stuff. Just a few lonely, orphaned remaining bags of the Brazil Light Roast and shelves once brimming (get it?..) with their stealth store-brand good stuff now filled with all sorts of other stuff.
So to you, Stop & Shop, this Rant.
Hah, so bummed. Well, it was a steal while it lasted.
My cup now runneth empty. -
Rave: $1 lemon bars from Joyce. Mmmmm...
-
Rave:
Plain bagel toasted with butter and grape jelly .....from I don't know where exactly.Where ever they sell fresh bagels!? I ate two-that's how good they taste. =P~
Rave:
SpongeBob Squarepants mini marathon on Nick right now till 5pm!!
-
Rave: bbq brisket on Atlantic Avenue
Rant: already walked by Steve's Key Lime Pies and didn't want to turn back for dessert. Made do with Blue Marble Ice Cream--not too shabby at all.
Rant: lettuce only for dinner
