LOST CELL PHONE - black Motorola Star-Tac Sat 10/3

I lost my black Motorola StarTac cell phone on Saturday 10/3 in the area bordered by 1st & 10th Streets and 5th & 7th Avenues. It was in a black leather holster with a belt clip. It's probably off but has a sticker on the earpiece that says *67, and if you turn it on "Mrs. Heard" will appear on the green screen (very modern in 2001, it was).

If anyone found it I would appreciate your letting me know, thanks.

Best wishes,
Sara

Sorry to have wasted anyone's time reading.
  • StarTac?!?! Lady, upgrade that thing, stat!
  • Universe's way of tell you you need a new phone. Sucks though.
  • I had a star-tac from about 2001 to 2003. It can receive text messages but not send them...my friends used to send me messages just to tease me about being unable to respond :(

Glad you found it, though - the phone may be old but I'm sure the numbers stored in it are invaluable. But yeah, your company should have offered you a free upgrade like 5 years ago...
  • Or you could just get a free new phone with new contract.

Wait, if you've had that same phone all along...

Are you still on circa 2001 contract rates, just coasting at those rates month-to-month since your 2-year contract expired 6 years ago (or whatever...)?

I would think that pricing plans have come down considerably since then.

If that's the case it may be high time to get a new phone (either free or subsidized) just for that reason alone.

And availiing oneself of recent years' advances in call clarity, battery life, expanded coverage areas and other improved services and amenities would also be nice.
  • No! You're all falling for the phone companies' plot to keep you enslaved!!!

You do NOT need a new phone every two years, you need your freedom. I have no contract, I pay $15 a month for a minimal pay-as-you-go plan so I have my walkaround phone for emergencies or "Honey, I'm running late", and then I do my chatting in the privacy of my own home, on my unlimited-long-distance Time Warner plan.

My phone balance then builds up and up since I don't use it to chat, so every few months I make several of those $10 text donations to some worthy cause (yes, a StarTac CAN send texts, BTW).

Sometimes I write letters too -- only $0.44, and you don't have to spend half the time listening to the other party blather on. Cost of paper is extra, of course.
