  • ^I've lived in WT (no doubt about it) for 12 years, and the "old school" people in this area (mostly Irish cops and firefighter-type, middle class families) didn't bring their kids to bars.
  • I've been here 20+ years- things have surely changed.
  • Retag wrote: Not every parent is irresponsible with their children. Many are doing the right thing, acting responsibly according to what the situation is.

However, I highly doubt a parent that would say "You're going to "have to" deal with it." is one of the responsible parents. Sounds like yet another entitled Park Slope parent that thinks little Billy could do whatever they want. A respectful person would never utter that sentence. Ever.

That said, I do not think a single two year old at a parent is a problem. More than one? Yes. Under two years old? Yes. But not a single two year old. Of course, if there is any crying, that person needs to leave ASAP. That goes for a 2 year old or a 42 year old.

Plus, anytime on a Saturday is peak time. Off peak is M-F before 5pm. 1pm on a Saturday is peak.
If you want to discuss this, great. But please stick to the fact.

The "deal with it" comment was directly following the "You live in a populated city" comment.

You have to "deal" with living in a populated city.

And again, please try not to include me in misinformed generalizations about parents.
  • 10:45pm, totally packed, no seats. Boo.

Ha! You missed me. I was there from 5-7. Got the first seat, but there was a crowd by the time I left.
  • you should have been there at 7:30 this evening , some mental midget was holding an infant ,while standing at the bar.
  • I cannot and should not respond to the infant post; however, I should mention that I finally met the infamous Greg, and all of his glory, while I was waiting for the missus.

He was looking terribly masculine in his five o'clock shadow, and somewhat rustic black and white checkered shirt.

And, he's a goddamn nice guy. One could say I have a man-crush on Gregory. Greg, you don't need a fireplace in your fab spot; and may I say that your bartenders are skilled at their profession.

Also, I didn't mean to insult your bartender; I actually liked his man-scarf.

    Cheers.

I just wanted to quote this quote to show that the quote wasn't the quote you quoted, but a quote you made up in your own 'quote' mind.
  • I think we just reached our quota on quotes and you can quote me on that.
  • Here is part of an email I received from a friend while trying to schedule drinks:

I would steer clear of that new double windsor place. Guy had a baby strapped to his chest next to me, beer menu in his free hand.
No clue of what time of day he went. :D
  • i walked by the other day and saw a couple with their little baby in a carrier..sitting by the window.

quite a turnoff, and i didn't go in

and this from a parent, who would never take my toddler to a bar.
  • I was heading in there one night a week or so ago and got about 5 feet in the door when I saw a toddler screaming his head off. Turned my ass right back around.
  • They hired a new doorman (in red) to keep out unruly children of all ages.

I'm sorry , i'll try not to do it in the future.
  • sorry, but that is such a turnoff..
i would not want to walk into that when in the mood for a drink

    Yah, you are not alone.

    sounds like a yuppie terrorist
  • this place has such potential-- but that toddler thing is really awkward.
    I'll be across the street.
  • children or no children, isn't that the owners decision.
  • Hamilton wrote: children or no children, isn't that the owners decision.
Greg is a super nice guy, but he has a toddler and is one of the owners...
  • Can everyone just relax a little and try to enjoy themselves. There are so many more important issues to concern ourselves with.

So there are people in the bar you don't approve of. So what?! They suck, you're awesome. Congratulations.

    BUT i have a toddler?

for the record, we try to tell all the parents upon entering that we have the same set of rules for adults as we do for kids: If they scream, poop, pee or puke- they gotta go.

so far, we've only had one customer do all 4 simultaneously. not to name any names but her name rhymes with plexi. :D/
  • If true , she has taken multitasking to a new level
  • Note to self: stop hanging out with Flexi. Unless I come armed with adult diapers.

You forgot crying. I cried, too.

    MOD NOTE: Fixed quote.
  • try the loose cannon IPA. it tastes like weed. deliciously dank weed.
  • I was at Double Windsor on Saturday early in the evening. Someone had brought a little kid who looked to be about two, who, while really well behaved for the most part, let out a few high pitched screeches.
The "no screaming" policy was not enforced while we were there, but we declined to have another round and went someplace else. We just thought - why put up with this annoyance when we don't have to ?
I thought bars are supposed to be 21 and over ?

Also, just wanted to add that I really like this place - really good beer on tap and nice atmosphere. The screaming children haven't been an issue for me on previous visits, and I will go back ( but I'll also leave early again if it gets annoying )
    Peace, Double Windsor.

Last night I had the Penndemonium (8%), Avery collaboration (9%), and Ballast point IPA. $4 each during happy hour. Made me very happy.

I'd rank them in that same order taste wise.
