get a geeky friend to set up their macbook to your speakers for 100$ then you can spin your own music, much more fun.

Yea, I have an ipod with a ton of great stuff on it- there's a company that will bring their speakers and dj my ipod for me and mc a little, for 450. Might do it. I'm just afraid that I don't have enough time to create set lists in 3 weeks time wither everything going on.

Greg Parmerton, who we know, did our wedding. He was superb. We know him because he DJed at a lot of the social ballroom dances that we went to but he also an all around great wedding DJ, he could tell who was dancing and knew the kind of music to play to get people out on the floor whether it was our regular swing dance crowd, the younger hip hop dancers or older "free stylers". He was a great MC also.
if you have a broad age range coming and you want them all to be happy an experienced wedding DJ is the way to go. Again he is a friend but I've been to many events where he has DJed.
He is also a trained dance instructor if you want help with your first dance.

DO NOT play your own music - nobody will dance. Getting people dancing, especially several generations and a whole bunch of different musical tastes is incredibly difficult. I used DJ Shakey (Julie Covello) and can't recommend her enough. She kept people moving for 4 hours non stop.

Yea- I mean, I agree to a certain extent- I actually have a pretty good selection of many genres, but I agree, I don't think I want the pressure of making sure everyone's dancing. Thanks, Fenian- for the tip on Julie- and I got your PM so I'll keep that in mind as well. I'm waiting for a call-back from a DJ who's already booked- but he and I are of the same mind set and he's got a few people he says he can hook me up with.
