Subject: Double parking at the GAP farmer's market

Wanted to double park along the park but wasn't sure if I would get ticketed.

Do the cops pass out tickets or is there a double parking tolerance there on Saturdays?.

  • My solution for this is WALK from where you live to the market. I can almost never find parking and just gave up. I take the shopping cart and just make it a lovely stroll.
  • That could be dangerous. I would just look for a spot or walk.
  • Didn't you know that the Farmer's Market is 100% drive-thru? Just pull up alongside any stall you like and the farmer will be happy to fill your order, (as soon as the bodies are cleared away).
  • I so don't want this to be an attack against Testiculon, I don't know that person's situation.

But this kind of attitude pisses me off. Why do drivers assume that because they can not find a "good" spot that it is ok to block the road, i.e., double park?

Soon they are going to install a dedicated bike lane on PPW so drivers will not assume that double parking is ok, because the street is so wide.
  • A dedicated what lane? Bike lane you say? That's just a fairytale - everyone knows those lanes signal officially tolerated double parking zones; there's no such thing as a bicycle.

Sheesh, next you're gonna tell me people are riding unicorns down Flatbush Ave.

But yeah, I've noticed that maybe a lot of drivers feel entitled. Sometimes I've noticed this from the pavement as they drive off.
  • LETS TURN THIS INTO ANOTHER BIKE V. CAR THREAD!!
  • Hey, your signature there is an appropriate response to your comment. Cute!
  • Horse-drawn buggy or stay home. Walking miles though knee-high snow also accepted. All other means of getting to farmers' market are against the spirit of the enterprise..
  • Uphill both ways
