  • this ought to stir up some heated discussion - hehe

"(which spans from Atlantic Avenue to Eastern Parkway on the north and south and Washington Avenue to Flatbush Avenue on the east and west)"

Unbelievable! The NY Post actually got something right!

    :lol::lol::lol:
  • There are okay parts of Prospect Heights closer to flatbush and Grand Army Plaza area, not sure about the further out toward Atlantic though.

You wouldn't happen to be from Brownstoner, would you?

    *rob*
  • kind of a dumb article.
  • The article seems like a complete advertisement for those overpriced condos!

Keep thinking that way - my little section of Underhill is perfect the way it is ;)

Plus it seems like most of the crime is closer to GAP than to Atlantic
  • I love the energy created by all these new coffee shops, bars, restaurants and condos, but I would gladly swap any of them for a decent supermarket whose produce does not taste like Lysol.
  • the grocery stores around here suck.

I however work at whole foods so I dont have to bother with them.

I used to like Whole Foods until I learned more about them. I don't go there anymore.

  • he is from brownstoner i bet :p. read it and post on it sometimes :p.
  • Yes! A good supermarket would be a godsend. The Met on Vanderbilt is slightly better than the Met on Fulton (In CH but closer to my apartment.) Even a nice little green grocer where you can buy produce would be amazing. Now I find myself taking the train to Trader Joe's most of the time.
  • I just walk over to union market on union and 6th. Its worth the hike.

  • Maybe we could convince Fairway to move over here. I've seen a barren rail yard over near Atlantic...seems like something useful could be built there.
  • Only on this board would media attention for the neighborhood be viewed as a negative. BTW, I love Whole Foods.

Stop encouraging the destruction of Brooklyn! Leaving that a trash-strewn wasteland is the only way to preserve the character of the neighborhood!
  • Lo Kee, that is 100% correct. Leave it as is.

The NY Post article is rosy and all, but Prospect Heights is still part of the 77th. I know we make firm distinctions between uppity Prospect Heights and crummy Crown Heights, but they share the same crime stats.

Totally agree with this. Moved from St. Marks up to Lincoln Place and kind of regretting it. Was developing nicely down there...

    :(
  • Not to drum up more animosity regarding borders or anything, but just had to cut-and-paste this from the aforementioned article:

"Prospect Heights (which spans from Atlantic Avenue to Eastern Parkway on the north and south and Washington Avenue to Flatbush Avenue on the east and west)"

    Yup.

Also, Chekhovian, not all of Crown Heights is "crummy", thank you very much. My wife and I moved from Propsect Heights (Eastern @ Underhill) to St. Francis Place & Lincoln over 5 years ago and love it.
  • I think Checkovian was being sarcastic.
  • Hmm. Yes, I re-read and noticed the "uppity" in their post as well as the "crummy". Sorry!
