I put the Blessed Mother in the window so maybe she will hold the rain for a few hours like u said Debbie.
Just as long as we can go to the cemetery without have a mud slide.

Not sure if it was Kresgees. You're older...you tell me
Michael ...wasnt that Kresgee's ???
-----------------
I was gonna say the 5 & 10 but then I said Woolworths, was it Kresgees??? It was on 10th and 5th ave. It was 1964-1965 when I was there. Michael, was this before your time? LOL -- thanks hey Maryann, 64-65 was MY time to still be in diapers...lol. I believe there was a Kresgees between 9th and 10th st and a Woolworth between 10th and 11th st on 5th ave back in the 70's which is where my memories of the neighborhood really begin. There is someone else on this bolg that can remember that I'm not THAT much younger but can't seem to remember the TWO stores that were in that area at the time...Hi Suzie!! 8) -
MaryAnnL wrote: HAPPY THURSDAY, HOW'S EVERYONE DOING TODAY????? ANOTHER COLD DREARY DAY HERE, MAYBE SOME SUN TOMORROW.
Not much sun in this part of FloriDUH today but it's still in the 80's. I'm kinda jealous of Pa. with the snow they got. Maybe i'll get to feel the snow again soon. -

Woolworths was great. I used to stop there to get a Burger, Fries and a Vanilla Malted with my Grandmother. Always after walking to the Bank on 9th. Yes pushing the shopping cart for her also. You don't see those shopping carts anymore. -

CORNER OF 18TH ST & 5TH AVE
ACROSS FROM EAGLE
THERE'S A LIBERTY TAX OFFICE
THERE NOW RIGHT -
Hey Mike, you know thinking back some of those St. Johns School Trips were pretty cool. I even took my kids when they were small to "Fairy Tale Forest" and of course the Radio City Christmas show.
-
I do stuff down here wih the kids kinda sorta like that around the holidays. In Celebration they have a 'winter wonderland' kinda thing. They have these blowers that blow out snow (soap) that covers the ground and the kids get to run around in it. They have a Santa that you can take pictures with for like $20...and a train(trolly) that rides around the area. Gotta build some good memories for the kids.

We used to enjoy going to A & S downtown during Christmas. Always had to take the Santa Picture there. They had a great Merry Go Round. -
I remember Germains on 5th and 15th with the Santa upstairs and stairs on the outside leading down to a CROWDED basement. Things that have laready been mentioned here but well worth mentionin again.
-
ok...my time is up for now. Its ALWAYS great thinkin about the way things were. Have a good one Charlie and the rest of this blog family.

Sounds like a Baileys and coffe kinda night. Hmmmm...now I'm cravin a caramel machiotto from Starbucks. It's only two traffic lights away but too far for me to walk...maybe in the next hour or so. Who has the Baileys? -

Michael.....two traffic lights??? How far is that??? Not like brooklyn, two traffic lights is two block!!! I was thinking about having that myself.....sounds good to me!!! -
I guess it's not really all that far Deb but, the only time I take walks like that is when I have the kids cause THEY want to walk. I drive everywhere. It's not like back in the day in Brooklyn takin a walk up on the avenue, grabbin a slice and headin on your way. Down here...ya don't see people hangin out on the streets. It's like a different world down here Deb.
