Cryptic Posters on Union St
Hi
There’s a building on Union Street between 4th and 5th that always has cryptic posters in the window – occasionally funny, other times just plain weird. Does anyone know the place I’m talking about? Last week it was ‘Guns don’t Kill People, Chuck Norris Kills People’ – which is a bad example because normally they’re way more obscure.
Is this just someone with an offbeat sense of humor trying to brighten up people’s days or is there some master plan going on? Anyone have any idea? I often ponder about this as I walk down to the R train…..

Who? Gloria Hendry already saved the world. I can't wait until "Black Kissinger" comes out...Gloria is going to be 60 soon, and she still kicks ass. Oh, and Henry Kissinger is played by Fred Williamson.

Subject: Humorous posters in window on Union
This guy's been posting such musings for a decade or more.
I wish I had kept a notebook of some of his best ("Don't let the doorknob hit you where the good lord split you" and "It's nice out...I think I'll keep it out" come to mind). Double entendres and puns seem to be his specialty.
Few are originals...it seems as if everyone has an uncle who used one of these aphorisms over Thanksgiving (or, in my case, Passover) dinners. -
Somebody should document that stuff.
There is a loon on my block who posted rantings and newspaper clips (pro-Bush, pro-life, anti-everybody else) almost every single day for over a year after Sept. 11th. I wish I had done a photoessay on it. -

He's definantly delusional. Forget the photoessay, an investment in a straight jacket is more appropriate. -

I think I actually saw him for the first time today (after many years of living on this block) on his stoop smoking a cig.
The thing that always made me wonder is that I think he has a 2nd floor tenant. Imagine if your landlord/downstairs neighbor started posting shit like that? Bad enough that my LL voted for Bush (twice!). -

Say you have a Bush sticker on your car or walk around in a Bush t-shirt or something. Well, naturally, you'd be the biggest moron EVAR. But, hell, man - throw your Che or Lenin t-shirt on and that's cool you're good to go. I even saw a guy in an Idi Amin shirt once, nobody gave him a second look. I'm laughing because I guy I know dressed up as Che one Halloween a few years ago (before the big T-shirt/movie/Che-movement) and some lady on the train started screaming at him. She thought he was dressed as Saddam Hussein -

I don't think this is unique to just park slope. The only face you see plastered on people's shirts more in NYC is that of Al Pacino's from Scarface. -
